★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Abadim atual Freguesia de Cabeceiras de Basto, foi Couto Municipal e chegou a ser Vila, com carta foral dada por D. Manuel em 1514. O primeiro donatário da terra foi D. Rodrigo Viegas Badim a quem D. Afonso III coutou o termo entre os anos 1248 e 1258. Após pertencer a outros vários senhores, o Couto entra na posse do dr. Diogo Lopes de Carvalho, desembargador do paço no ano imediato à outorga do foral, concedido ainda durante o senhorio de um fidalgo chamado Diogo Machado. O senhorio de Abadim manter-se,-ia na descendência de Diogo Lopes de Carvalho até ao século XIX. O seu pelourinho ergue-se junto ao portal da cada da torre do tronco, atual turismo rural que ocupa um edifício setecentista anexo a uma torre supostamente pertencente ao antigo solar medieval dos Badins.

Diogo Lopes de Carvalho, judge of the palace in the year immediately after the granting of the charter, still granted during the landlord of a nobleman named Diogo Machado.
