I visited this waterfall with my girlfriend. We walk through the wooden walkway to the viewpoint where you can see the waterfall. The path is very beautiful but you have to walk a bit. The waterfall didn't have much water, but it is beautiful. The Pitões das Júnias Waterfall is a waterfall (waterfall) located almost at the end of the village and parish of Pitões das Júnias, Montalegre municipality, Vila Real District, Portugal. The waters of this cascade come from the waters of the Pitões stream which, due to the unevenness of the land, develops on several levels, the first of which is about 30 meters high and flows into a lake bounded by granite outcrops. This waterfall is one of the many waterfalls in the Barroso region and will animate several rivers that are born in the Serra do Gerês. In the vicinity of this waterfall there is a wooden bridge and also a century-old oak tree, which over the centuries has been the target of several local legends, such as that of an elf living there.

Breathtaking view. For all the nature lovers. The path to the waterfall is not too hard and they have a wooden path and stairs untill the place to see the waterfall.

The (rickety!) boardwalk to the waterfall does not, unfortunately, go all the way to the waterfall but rather to a viewpoint in the distance. There the boardwalk ends and it is a tiring walk to the bottom of the waterfall. Not advisable for the elderly or if you're travelling with children.

This is just the sighting place, NOT the waterfall. You actually cannot reach the waterfall through any marked hiking trail, (and possibly no actual one) as there are only end-of-trail markings on either side of the lookout spot. The view is still beautiful though, but the name of the place in the map should be fixed to reflect it.

One of the most beautiful waterfalls of Portugal. The surroundings are just breathtaking. There are some wood stairs and trail to a view spot and if you are in adventure mode you can hike to near the waterfall base. One of the iconic places you can't miss to see.

The waterfall is completely immersed in a scenery of natural beauty. It is very straightforward to get there. You can park your car in the parking access to the waterfall, follow a path of about 600 meters, and follow the walkway till you see this spectacle. I suspect the best time to visit the waterfall is during the autumn or winter, due to the amount of water.
