Where the Coura River and the Ribeiro coming from São João de Arga (São João waterway) intersect, giving a tranquilizing and rare beauty image originated by natural lagoons, sought after by many during the summer. The place is quite reserved and hidden from the eyes of others, which also makes it something secret, while still being an asset to it.

Ponte de S. João, located at the confluence of the Ribeira de S. João and the River Coura. The photos were taken on the bridge referred to in the sinuous but beautiful "road of Covas" between Vilar de Mouros and Covas, a walk that I recommend to make very calm and enjoy the beautiful banks of the Coura River.

Some nice natural pools and a waterfall beneath the bridge make this place worth stopping for a few minutes. The pools are NOT easy to reach, ice cold and, let's face it, quite small and in the middle of nowhere, yet they still provide a better place to dip into the water than the windy Atlantic beaches of Northern Portugal. There's also a swimming area up the river in near the dam in Covas, just up the river.

Amazing. Steep slope down and need to be careful but it's worth it for one of the most beautiful swimming spots!
