★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A little bit further from center, but it can still be reached by foot. Near are some nice restaurants, a supermarket and a metro station. Only minus is uncomfortable bed and loud neighbourhood, making it impossible to sleep easily.

Getting a cheap and a good hostel is a rarity these days.
You are paying less - you get less. As other reviews state - no actual English is spoken in this hostel.

rst - when u arrive at the door juat push the bottom button and somebody (probably a lady) will open the door for you. There is no actual point of calling the number if you didn't try pushing the button (of course if you speak portuguese - go for it) because you won't be able to communicate.
The lady who recived us was always smiling and keeping the good vibe/emotion all the way. So i see no problem with it at all.
The bathroom was quite clean and the room it self is good: need is comfy (stayed at the room nr. 3 as i remember) and everything was ok apart from that the street is quite noisy and other guests was also noisy in the middle of the night. But it's a hostel - what are you expecting.
Other than that - is a good option to stay the night on a budget.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Despite confirming our arrival time on a Sunday afternoon there was no one to open the door (and no entry code possible). Fortunately a kind passerby called the owner ( whose English is very limited) and he came to unlock and let us in. It’s a large house but the 3 or 4 bedrooms share one toilet/bathroom so often a wait. Downstairs lounge and kitchen are spacious if needed. It’s a 10 minute walk to a Metro station but relatively long (40 minutes ?) walk from the city centre. A good supermarket is a few doors left and a great good-value restaurant/bar across the street, opposite the metro station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The room was not bad taking into account its low price, and the lady in the reception was really lovely and kind. However, it was far from the city center even if it is supposed to be exactly there. In addition, it was really really cold, without heating and no hot water during the evening. Be careful, because you may be left without hot water in the middle of your shower. It's ok if you don't mind being with some soap on you. Sorry cute reception lady...
