★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lisbon is famous for its kiosks and the Quiosque do Adamastor is considered by many to be among the best in the city. Its scenic location at the Santa Catarina viewpoint offers a perfect spot to enjoy a sunset along with a refreshing beverage. And while it can get quite crowded on a beautiful evening, the ambiance of this place is magical. And if you’re lucky, you may just catch a concert by local musicians.
Those that prefer smaller crowds should visit in the morning, but whenever you go, you’ll enjoy the company of the rock sculpture of the Adamastor. A mythological character created by the Portuguese poet Luís de Camões in his poem Os Lusíadas. Adamastor manifests itself from a storm and symbolizes the dangers of the sea and the formidable forces of nature that challenged but we’re ultimately overcome by the Portuguese during the Age of Discovery.
