Restaurante Portarade

Superb fixed menu lunch. We went the whole hog and had the €14.50 menu: couvert, starter, main, dessert, coffee and drink. Plenty of choice on every course. Lovingly cooked, presented and served. ?

Wonderful cost efficient lunch. 6 people 100 euros. Best almond cake you can imagine. Good sangria. Good service. Outdoor seating in their beautiful square.

5 stars for the food and also for the service! The waiters were extremely friendly, i heard them spoking at least 4 different languages, made sure everything was good and also helped me to choose something I was in the mood for! They have a menu for lunch and dinner which includes couvert+entry+main dish+desert+drink+coffee which was very interesting but I ended up going for something else. Will actually come back here again on the same trip for another meal as it was extremely good ? all of the food I had + orange juice came to 24 euros

A good value restaurant with great choice and well cooked food. I had the sea bass and my partner had baked hake. Service was fast and courteous. An added bonus was chatting with the lovely couple, Martin and Maria, next to us for most of the afternoon and, of course, the glorious sunshine!

Very friendly. Quality of food was superb. There's a good variety of food and we couldn't believe the prices as they do set menus. We would definitely recommend if you are in the area. A hidden gem!

We have updated this review after receiving the owners' comment. We have specified better and we disagree that we are very wrong. The rating is therefore unchanged. Restaurante Portarade offers a good lunch menu with many options. In our opinion and recollection, however, not much has changed in recent years we have lived here in Ferragudo, except for the price of the full lunch menu which has increased by approx. 50% since 2014. Then the price was € 9.50, now the full menu costs 14.50. We can not say whether this is bad or good, in our opinion it is just a fact. You get a great value for your money at Restaurant Portarade - couvert, starter, main course, drink and dessert. Fresh fish, and beautifully served. Douradinhos - from the children's menu. This seems to be a type of fish fingers which is not made from real fish fillets. The restaurant charges 6 euros for the dish, which includes 3 fish fingers made from fish fillings. Maybe for a few cents more in cost and our kids could have real fish fingers. Children also deserve quality food. We have commented this to the staff before. Losing a star for this. The internet in the outdoor area is slow and useless for streaming. We know that families with children will appreciate the opportunity to use a streaming service such as Youtube. Probably some other guests as well. So therefore we usually sit at the neighboring restaurant instead of having to use all our mobile data credits at Portarade. This has little to do with "favorite venues", as the owners comment, except that WiFi is much better next door. We assure you that our voice is not bought by any competitors. So, losing another star for poor outdoor WiFi. The staff is nice and friendly. Always. If the staff had asked us if the fish fingers were good, we would tell our opinion again. We hoped there were an improvement. If the restaurant wants to attract more residents, in our opinion, the restaurant needs more frequent updates in their menu, and also spend a bit on outdoor WiFi. How difficult can it be? This review is written as accurately as possible, regardless of what the owners claim, and the facts are based on several visits in the last years. The owners do not comment on the fish fingers, but admit that WiFi is an issue. We've looking for old private photos to prove the menu. Found only a fraction of the menu from 2014, but it is proving our recollection. We do not think it will help to tell staff face to face about such issues. Waiters can not do much about WiFi and poor fish fingers. The owners can. And owners react first when the problem is presented as here. Maybe the menu is designed for tourists who likely do not return to Ferragudo, and who have enough mobile data. In that case all is good. We do not know for sure, but we can assure you that we are happy to update this review whenever the restaurant offers usable internet to the large outdoor dining area, as well as real fish in the fish fingers. It should not cost that much. Thanks!

Outstanding food. They have multiple menu options all of which are great and they have huge portions. Really nice place centrally located.

We stopped here for lunch and it was great! There is a lot of variety for the "menu of the day" and the food was really good. We chose the 15€ menu and had pão de alho and fish soup for starters (both very tasty) and pasta with shrimps and grilled fish for the main dish (absolutely lovely). The portions are very satisfying too and the service is efficient. We've liked this place a lot ?
