Stattdessen Verfall.
I was already at this place in 2003, 1 year after German archaeologists from Frankfurt and geologists from Jena worked. The mosaics of the living rooms were to be seen, the structure also. Apparently they wanted to make the place accessible. Now (2019) the place can only be reached via a rocky driveway and in a catastrophic state. The built toilet (?) Devastated to see nothing of the mosaics and the walls overgrown. The location for a villa with management by fish processing is clearly visible and it would have been worthwhile to reward the excavation with an exhibition and a driveway. Instead, decay.

The ruins themselves would not be wonderful, but the state they are in, the surrounding area, the lack of care, the fact that we have to "invade" private property (although the farm appears to be abandoned) all of this makes it a big disappointment.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ a bit hard to drive to. but well worth a visit. the romans certainly knew where to put their villas. what a view. a must to visit. Its a shame people think its robbers that have taken the mozaics. It was the musium of lisbon and Portimão that have them. And they allow all the cows to roam all over it

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nothing to see if you're not an archeologist with a permission to dig ? Don't know if anyone visited this place in 20 years. Wild interesting surroundings like a ruined farm, a heard of cows and bulls as well as large colonies of crabs.
