 São Gonçalo de Lagos is a Portuguese blessed, especially venerated by fishermen in the Algarve, and seeking protection while at sea.
São Gonçalo lived as Friar of the Order of the Hermits of Santo Agostinho, having dedicated himself in his time to preaching as superior of some monasteries of his order. In 1798, it was made blessed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Recht einfache Statue oberhalb des Strands und des Forts. Abends baden und trinken die Möwen hier. Da die Statue an der Hauptstraße liegt, eignet sich der Platz nicht für einen längeren Aufenthalt. Allerdings kommt man praktisch immer auf den Weg zu den Stränden hier vorbei und kann den Ausblick genießen. In direkter Nachbarschaft liegen der Strand, das Fort und die Reste der Burg.
Direkt nördlich schließen kostenpflichtige Parkplätze an.
Quite a simple statue above the beach and the fort. The seagulls bathe and drink here in the evening. Since the statue is on the main street, the place is not suitable for a long stay. However, you practically always pass by on the way to the beaches and can enjoy the view. The beach, the fort and the remains of the castle are in the immediate vicinity.
Paid parking spaces are directly to the north.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ort zum Innehalten! Dieser Mönch, der von 1360-1422 hier lebte, erfuhr aber erst gut 350 Jahre später seine Seligsprechung. Naja, besser spät als überhaut nicht, aber den Grund dafür kenne ich nicht. Nun steht er hier mit dem gekreuzigten Jesus in der Hand und vielleicht erinnert sich der Eine oder Andere an das Leid vor etwa 2000 Jahren. Fühlen wir doch einmal in die heutige Zeit, wiederholt sich das Leiden nicht immer wieder, nur mit etwas anderen Situationen?
