A SPAR foi fundada em 1932 por Adrian van Well, na Holanda, como DESPAR, que é o acrónimo do slogan “Door Eendrachtig Samenwerken Profiteren Allen Regelmatig” que significa “Todos beneficiarão de uma forte cooperação”.
Nascia assim uma cadeia cujo objectivo era assegurar a cooperação entre retalhistas e grossistas independentes, como resposta ao crescimento de cadeias de supermercados na Europa. Adrian van Well escolheu como símbolo para identificar a cadeia a árvore do abeto, que significa SPAR em holândes, e que se mantém até hoje o logótipo da empresa. O crescente sucesso da SPAR nos países onde está presente e o interesse demonstrado por novos países, é a prova da relevância do modelo de negócio da SPAR no retalho alimentar moderno.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ É um mini mercado tipico, com um pouco de tudo e próximo da sua vizinhança. Fica muito próximo do ginásio clube sul e da estação posto de correios da cova da piedade. Com poucos funcionários mas simpáticos.
 It is a typical mini market, with a little of everything and near your neighborhood. It is very close to the south club gymnasium and the cova da piedade post office. With few but friendly staff.

Since it has to fight many hypermarkets around it, it provides a good response to the normal needs of ordinary people. It has access for people with reduced mobility and is in a quiet area of the pit of piety. Open on weekends.

Well located, good service and friendliness. Shop with well organized products and good exposure of fruits and vegetables. Overall it has a bit of everything, including butchers and charcuterie in addition to providing a soup of the day. I like it and recommend it! :)

I use it as an escape valve, versatile, there is never a line, but its price is not a market to make a heavy purchase.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a great store, very handy, you can find one here and there. The only downer is that while it should be a little cheaper than the large stores, it isn't, the prices are the same as those of the bigger supermarkets. Still, it has everything one could need and the butchery is marvellous - at this particular SPAR at least!
