★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited this Almancil butcher this afternoon and mentioned that I have been looking for a decent vendor in the Algarve after many disappointments, and was told that I had found the right spot. I was informed about the environmental credentials of the meat sourcing, but was a little suspicious that most was frozen (even the fresh meat had been defrosted). However, I needn't have worried. I selected a prime frozen rib-eye beef cut as a tester and defrosted as soon as I got home and barbecued in the evening. It was succulent, tasty, well marbled and very tender. Spot on! Of course, you can be lucky with meat cuts, but I will definitely be back and hopefully I have now found a regular local butcher.

The owner is really helpful and prices are good (unlike Apolonia which struck me as insanely overpriced).
