★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was a spur of the moment choice for us and so glad we did it. I learned so much about the history of Lisbon. Ian took his years of education and experience and indulged us on the many facets of Portugal/Spaniard/European and African history and how they all interwove into each other and affect Lisbon's population today. And doing this during an evening walk through the streets of Lisbon is the cherry on top. There are many opportunities to take great photos for the Gram. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did the "Dark Heart of Lisbon" tour with Ian. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about history. I loved the small group and his willingness and ability to answer any questions we asked. Ian was very welcoming and respectful. Great way to learn about the city. Definitely recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In the midst of the pandemic, the virtual tour of Lisbon has been a wonderful distraction. I joined the tour once and then brought it back to a work meeting for my whole team -it was great both times! The guides are personable and knowledgeable and the content, including visuals, was very interesting. I would recommend it to everyone (and actually, that is what I am doing any chance I get)! Thank you, Rogue Historians!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I took the ‘dark heart of Lisbon’ tour: What an amazing tour! Ian was leading the tour and he was incredible: an absolute wealth of historical knowledge shared through stories and subtle details in the architecture and urban landscape to really bring the history to life. It was definitely dark at times (in all senses!) so not for the faint of heart but fascinating and I saw nooks of the city I would not have discovered alone (as well gaining a solid grounding in the history of the Lisboa and Portugal) - highly recommend, just wear decent shoes for navigating those hills!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cannot recommend highly enough!!!
My husband and I absolutely loved our tour - The dark heart of Lisbon - with Ian. An historical tour with a twist that makes for an unforgettable experience. Ian was very personable and extremely knowledgeable guide who gave a local's insight and added plenty of humour along the way! Ill be recommending the rogue historians to any friends visiting Lisbon!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was the best tour guide in Rome and now is the best in Lisbon. I was recommended Ian and The Rogue Historians a few years ago in Rome by a friend. After that experience and hearing he was now in Lisbon I reached out once I knew I would be traveling to Portugal. Ian is the best. His tours are so informative. He is a funny and gifted storyteller. If you want to experience Lisbon, book with The Rogue Historians. You won't be disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I took the virtual Tour of the Dark Heart of Lisbon late June 2020 just after it launched. It was really terrific and just what I needed in this world of no tourism right now. If Lisbon is on your bucket list, then this is a great way to be introduced. It does hit on all the major themes in Lisbon's history as well as adding a fun "ghoulish" aspect. Ian, the guide, is very passionate about his subject and great to listen to. He is also super knowledgeable and the question and answer intervals were like being there . You got to see all the tour participants. Finally, the visuals were really professional and lovely. So good to do a little international touring right from my couch!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My girlfriend and I recently took part in the Private tours for the Colosseum, Forum and the Vatican. Initially I was hesitant to take part in a private tour as i thought it was expensive at first but when we looked at the value we received for the price it was worth every cent and more. It felt like a truly VIP experience in that every facet of the tour was at our pace and leisure. This extends to other areas we hadn't even foreseen such as queuing! I've heard tale of how Rome is notorious for queues. I wouldn't know, we walked up the velvet rope and were granted entry upon arrival at every location, which meant we had more time to enjoy the sites themselves. We were there in April so the temperature was very pleasant but i can imagine this being a lifesaver during the sweaty summer months. To the tour itself, we were greeted by Andrea who became our best pal in Rome for two days, he was thorough, thoughtful, entertaining, respectful and had a tremendous knowledge of Rome which extended form Ancient History to secret Roman local only spots for lunch and dinner. We had possibly one of our best meals ever in a Japanese restaurant thanks to Andrea's recommendation. Also worth noting we got access to the floor of the Colosseum of which we were the only tourist there (perk of going with the Rogue Historians we were told). I would recommend to anyone visiting Rome, whether it's your first time or you're a frequent visitor, Get in touch with the Rogue Historians and plan with them what you'd like to see. We heard of them form a friend who had taken part in the Twilight tour and said it was the highlight of their trip. I'll be sure to do that tour next time we visit Rome. Ciao for now
