"A Torre de Menagem, situada no ponto mais alto da cidade, a 1056m, é de planta pentagonal irregular, ergue-se no topo de uma colina, isolada e assente em afloramentos graníticos, apresentando paramentos em cantaria aparente de aparelho isódomo, com cobertura em telhado de duas águas, inferior relativamente ao muro, tendo passadiço em duas das faces, formando L, com acesso por escadas no interior.
A fachada principal e a posterior, apresenta uma linha de mísulas desactivadas, surgindo, na principal porta de verga recta, alteada, de acesso à torre e na lateral porta em arco abatido, envolvido por dupla arcada cega, em arco de volta perfeita.
O interior em cantaria aparente de aparelho isódomo, com cobertura em vigamento de madeira, tendo três pisos com pavimento de madeira e com acesso por escadas do mesmo material, com guarda vazada, que levam à cobertura, com acesso por porta de verga recta."

"The Keep, located at the highest point of the city, at 1056m, is of an irregular pentagonal plan, stands on the top of a hill, isolated and based on granite outcrops, with faces in apparent stonework of an isodomo device, with a roof on a gabled roof, lower than the wall, with a walkway on two sides, forming an L, with access by stairs inside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great view from the top of your legs can take the climb. Nearby is the se da Guarda which is also worth a visit. There is an elevator on the side but it was not open on the day I was there.
