★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I rounded it up since I would give it 3.5 stars. The location is very nice, within an historical horse development and breading institution, founded almost 3 centuries ago by a corner Portuguese king, current landmark of the Portuguese Lusitano horses. Visiting this part ("Coudelaria") is a must. As a bonus you can also visit the Falconry and learn about birds of prey. As for the hotel, the food (breakfast and dinner buffet) is very nice, but there are three major issues. Swimming pools have way too little chairs which leaves you hunting down for one; rooms on solar lusitano have their door on top of the swimming pool with no minimum privacy (some natural bushes would make great separators); and there is sometimes a nasty smell, which can't be accepted on a hotel like this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to rest at the pool. We loved everything about the Hotel, the restaurants, the gardens and the pools. Just be ready for a lot of flies as there are amazing horse breeding facilities of Alter Real next door. We were not preared for too many flies, we can understand that there are hundreds of horses but there are candles or other mechanisms that could be used at least within the room. Other than that, the room was nice - big comfy bad, coffee machine, thematic decorations. There is a particularity within the room design - the bathroom area doesn't have any door or curtain. The air conditioning was working great. More on facilities: the SPA was amazing, many options to choose from and spectacular indoor swimming pool. All together there are four swimming pools including two outdoors for adults, one outdoor for kids with slides and one indoor.
