3 months in Villa Joy (Corda), pre paid to get out of London to have some space and less people in beautiful Portugal. Pros of Villa Joy : Great outside space Fish pond Headhog Wild cats, especially a black & white that has a crooked moustache and losing its hair. Good Internet once Seashell sorted out the original slow Internet. Cons : During our 3 months stay we had no working pool. From day one we noticed the water was going down, so we got in touch with Seashell and they said they would need to drain the pool to see what's wrong. We also went to Seashells office when we were trying to sort the Internet out, during that visit we talked about the pool and we agreed that once the pool was repaired we wouldn't have to pay for the water to refill it. A month later nothing had been done, so at the beginning of December we sent them an email asking about the pool and when will it be refilled. Seashell sent someone to look at the pool, they seemed to think it wasn't an easy job, I've posted pictures how it ended up looking.. Towards the end of our stay when we ask for some refund for having no pool for 3 months, we were told that is because we didn't want to pay for it to be refilled ? We sent Seashell a copy of the email asking about the refill, showing that they were lying about not wanting the pool filled, the reply was that it had been too cold to swim. This is irrelevant, if that was the case cover the pool and take it off the price of the rental and they shouldn't presume to know what temperature we would swim in. We never got any refund. Its our last day, they send someone to look at the pool ?‍♂️ We had to get In touch with seashell and ask them to tell the workers to leave, happily they did. The villa needs a good professional clean and repainting. The outside sunbeds need replacing. The TV vibrates when too loud, distorting the sound. Oven a bit temperamental and takes time to get used to. Also during our stay the smoke alarm battery ran out in the 'games room' and screeched every so often to let us know. We got in touch with Seashell, they said they would send someone and over a week later they arrived. The smoke/carbon dioxide alarm went off one night, it was past 2AM. We got in touch with Seashell and they got in touch with the fire brigade, they arrived check the whole building and tested for gases and found nothing ??? Seashell said they would send an engineer to check the alarm, no one had turned up when we left 2 months later. The gas is from 2 large cylinders, one ran out while we were there, Seashell told us how to switch cylinders. We asked if they would replace the empty cylinder, we were told that the other cylinder had enough gas to last for months, it was empty in less than a week. Luckily they had someone near and the checked the cylinder, confirmed both were empty and were pretty quick with a replacement. They even asked us to read the electric and gas meters and send the readings, we are doing their job now. Cleaners cost us €100 a months, they mop the floor clean the surfaces but you will have to clean your own towels and bed linen. Cheaper in London ? My only recommendation for the villa is where it is, near the beach and some local amenities but you'll probably need a car. The pictures you might see of the villa must be from years ago, mine are more like it. To finish off as I packed to leave, 3 of my t-shirts were starting to grow mould, that's how damp the villa can be.

Incredible place to stay. Super clean and very modern. A steal for the price and a great place to hang out with a big group
