★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice boat trip on the canals, but being the only English speaker gave me only a brief overview not the detailed version that he provided in both Portugese and French. It gave insight to the size and extent of the city.

Firstly: we asked the woman if the tour boat was in English, she said yes but obviously lied. We luckily had a nice man who was happy to translate. However it was nice just to see the city regardless. Recommend for anyone wanting to sit back, but if you’re looking to find out some history I’d go to another

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I do not get raving reviews about these boat rides. "The Venice of Portugal"? The one canal is narrow. That's about the only similarity to Venice. The town itself leaves much to be desired, especially after visiting Porto or Lisbon.
And if the lack of things to see on this 45 min ride was not enough, our boat's engine died. 15 people waited about 10 min out in the heat while the driver figured out the technical issues.
Carry on to quality and value in so many other places in Portugal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I payed 25 Euros for a “great experience of the town” and it didn’t live up to its expectations. I saw the walls of the canal and McDonald’s that’s it and we had to cut the ride by 20 minutes because the engine flooded, we waited for 10 minutes until he had to get help. Don’t waste you money on this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were approached to take the boat trip starting near the Melia Ria Hotel. We were told the boat would be there in 10-15 min, but finally it took more than 1h for us to get on a boat. Several boats would come, turn around and go without stopping. The problem is that this location is not the main starting point for the boat trips, and the boats are full when they get to this part of the journey. Better to walk 12 min by the river side to get to the main location in the city center.
