★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came to open an account last week & had to make a deposit (€500). Was told my card would ship in a couple weeks. I found out yesterday my application did not get approved for whatever reason (even after supplying all the necessary documentation) & I replied immediately saying I would be coming to get my deposit. When I came to the bank today to get my the deposit back, they said they couldn’t do anything as it was too late in the day (as if they didn’t have time beforehand when I emailed them a day prior) and I wouldn’t be able to get my money until next week.
I am a bit disappointed in how Banco CTT handled the whole situation and will not be moving forward in creating an account. Luckily, earlier today I was able to set up a bank account within minutes at BPI thanks to the kind, helpful staff (highly recommend BPI, especially for foreigners). I will be depositing the €500 in my new bank...whenever I get it back from Banco CTT, that is
