About Biblioteca Municipal de Lagos
Datada de 1665, este imóvel destinado ao armazenamento dos produtos trazidos pelas naus que aportavam a Lagos, situa-se na Praça do Infante, e ostenta na sua fachada principal, sobre cada uma das portas, um escudo de Armas do Reino do Algarve e, entre eles, a chancela do Conde de Avintes.

A surprising amount of historical Portuguese material, and an even more surprising variety of foreign language material. Free wi fi as well as public terminals. Located in a quiet residential area, one block away from the castelo sea gate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Happy 30th birthday to Biblioteca Municipal de Lagos. We happened upon a vintage camper van lit up with bulbs and a gentleman dressed like the porter of Grand Hotel Budapest in the Praca do Infante. The set up was like a Wes Anderson film set! Turned out it was a puppet show put on by the Biblioteca to celebrate its 30th birthday. The show was so delightful and romantic. I just wish more people knew about it. I get the feeling Lagos really invests in culture and tries to be more than just beaches to visitors. Pity the tourist office does not promote everything as widely. We didn't see any advertising for this and other events that we stumbled upon.
