★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good service and excellent fried chicken! If you have an accommodation in CALDAS DE MONCHIQUE, although it's not visible on GMaps, just follow the steps near the small river upwards and you can reach the place on foot too, don't hike near the road.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Glad we booked, only able to get a table at 18.30. Wife thought the chips were too salty although others in the party didn't. Ham and cheese starter was moorish accordinging to one member of the group, another said delicious! Chicken was nice but could have been marinated more as we expected it to be spicer although extra spice was provided. Excellent value, less than 50 euros for 4 including drinks. Cash only!

Portion for 2 people was rather small, service not very attentive (didn't offer us any sauce for the fries, no mention of the ham for starter either). The chicken breast was dry and the seasoning was so so. We ordered piri piri but we couldn't taste any heat or spice. The chicken was fried rather than grilled, or at least of tasted like it. Didn't live up the hype. FYI no cards are accepted but the food is very reasonably priced.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had to wait 20 minutes absolutely worth it, no need to order as it is basically the tomato and onion salad and chicken plus chips. they have other starters.
Delicious chicken and absolutely worth the wait. For dessert the almond cake and almond pudding, both perfect.
We where 3 and it worked out at 10 Euros a head.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love this place and we always come here on the way to Monchique. So far it has been the best chicken I had in Algarve. Lovely staff, speak English. chicken is €10 (big portion). Maaaaasive salad €4. Cosy in the winter with the fireplace and seating outside in the summer. Kids friendly but it is right by the main road! Nice walk down the little stream on the side of the restaurant. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent value for money. Chicken piri-piri, chips, fab tomato salad, cheese, bread, presunto, carrots with olives, large bottle of water, carafe of house wine, coffee, cost approx. 15euros per person. Family run restaurant, always exceptional.
