★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Long overdue review! It's an absolute gem of an eatery in the touristy area of Porto. Unpretentious and hearty local fare at a very reasonable price. My wife and I visited Casa Lopes for lunch four days in a row; that tells you how much we love that place.
Go for the daily special - it's usually a meat stew with rice. The vegetable soup is especially welcome on a rainy day. Satisfying and tasty home-cooked food that hits the spot.
It's a busy place that welcomes plenty of locals who work in the area - that should be a good indicator of their quality and appeal.
