★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ali mesmo às portas de Bragança. Infelizmente não conseguimos ver o seu interior. Cá fora há umas escavações conforme as fotos documentam. Vale a pena a visita, mesmo assim.
Right there at the gates of Bragança. Unfortunately we cannot see inside. Outside there are excavations as the photos document. It is worth the visit, anyway.

Conseguimos visitar seu interior porque uma senhora estava fazendo a limpeza das capelas.
Esse edifício faz parte da história de Portugal, dos tempos de Don Mendo Alão nobre e cavaleiro medieval senhor de Bragança e “doutras terras” e clérigo do mosteiro que “filiou” uma princesa Armênia que passou pelo mosteiro em peregrinação a Santiago de Compostela. Início da cronologia dos “Braganções”.
My wife and I were at the monastery of São Salvador de Castro de Avelãs in 2019.
We were able to visit its interior because a lady was cleaning the chapels.
This building is part of the history of Portugal, from the times of Don Mendo Alão, a nobleman and medieval knight, lord of Bragança and “other lands” and cleric of the monastery who “affiliated” an Armenian princess who passed through the monastery on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Beginning of the “Braganções” chronology.
