This was supposed to be a “kebab”… edit: update - we asked if you serve kebabs and you told us you did, obviously we didn’t want to buy a starter which is priced at a euro per piece of chicken - we asked if you sold kebabs. You should have told us you didn’t sell kebabs. You sent one of your waiters to run after us in the street too which we think has made your restaurant more unappealing. He told us you, his boss, has been yelling at him for our bad review. I’m sorry for him, but your restaurant wasn’t truthful about what we were being sold.

S	Shannon Belletti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hidden gem in Tavira! I wasn't sure about an Indian restaurant in Portugal, but I heard good things and decided to give it a try. What a nice surprise! Lovely setting with both indoor and outdoor seating areas along the river. Book a table in advance as it filled quickly even on a weeknight. Menus are provided in several languages and is quite extensive. Vegetable samosas were piping hot with good flavor but nothing special. The vegetable pakoras were much more flavorful and I'd highly recommend them as a starter. Lamb seekh kabobs were moist and tender but could use a slice of lemon for a touch of brightness. Chicken Tikka served on a hot grill pan was a bit underwhelming. Large chunks of chicken and a good portion size, but it was a bit overcooked and not the most flavorful. The Chicken Pasanda was much more tender and flavorful. The Lamb Rogan Josh was the real winner with large chunks of lamb that were fork tender. Wonderfully fragrant and just the right amount of heat (requested Medium). Rice was delicate and perfectly cooked, and the garlic naan was absolutely perfect. Staff were friendly and attentive, and they went out of their way to make sure our dinner was correct and to our satisfaction. Overall, it was a great experience and meal for a very reasonable price in this area. Highly recommend!

The gentleman that served us helped us through the menu as we're not experienced with Indian food. I enjoyed Lamb with mushrooms and my wife had chicken with coconut etc. The restaurant was quiet with easy music so we could carry on a conversation. We're coming back and we highly recommend the Dawat Indian Restaurant. Thanks for a great evening.

Everything was good from the service, pickles / poppadoms, starter, main, naan. Will definitely be back a couple of times before flying home.
