La Plaza Alfonso de Albuquerque es un jardín situado frente al majestuoso Palacio del Presidente de la República, a orillas del río Tajo. La estatua que se emplaza en el jardín está dedicada a Alfonso de Albuquerque, gobernador de la India portuguesa entre 1509 y 1515. Fue realizada por el escultor Costa Mota, es una estatua de bronce colocada sobre una alta columna de estilo manuelino, labrada con escenas de su vida, obra del arquitecto Silva Pinto.
The Plaza Alfonso de Albuquerque is a garden located in front of the majestic Palace of the President of the Republic, on the banks of the Tagus River. The statue that is located in the garden is dedicated to Alfonso de Albuquerque, governor of Portuguese India between 1509 and 1515. It was made by the sculptor Costa Mota, it is a bronze statue placed on a tall column in the Manueline style, carved with scenes of his life, the work of the architect Silva Pinto.
