★ ★ ★ ★ ★ During our two weeks in Portugal this was one of the best restaurants we experienced! Months later we still talk about it. I hope that it lasts a long time because I definitely plan to go back. : )
The staff was excellent as well! Our waitress, whose name I don’t recall but was an art student was awesome.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We found this place more accidentally but we could not have been happier. In Portugal it can be difficult to find vegetarian options but this place only serves them. We had half of the menu and every dish was delicious!! The service was super friendly and helpful. Can only recommend!! Will come back. + many vino options from Portugal!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was very literally the first meal I had in Portugal, and it was excellent. Ines from Fangas's staff went out of her way to be kind and welcoming to a lost foreigner, and had great recommendations. She even took the time to explain the meaning of Fangas, and the origin regions of the wines on the menu. I felt very welcomed and this was a great experience.
I had the bean and mushroom stew, which for a cold night, was perfect. This is a cannot-miss location for vegetarians / vegans.

Such a lovely restaurant and friendly team, really caring and cheerful. So glad I discovered it here on Google Maps!
Fangas is located on a cutely decorated street in the centre with some tables outside. Inside, spacious and arty interior including lots of street signs.
Attractive menu but I followed the recs of fellow foodies and the staff. The aubergine dish was IMMENSE and so cheesy and filling. The cod with chickpea puree was also divine. Paired with a delightful local white wine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely the best food I’ve eaten in Coimbra. A rare and very much valued find in Coimbra especially. Great great service, nice variety of veggie and vegan tapas dishes great for sharing, fast turnaround and lovely atmosphere with a full restaurant. Highly highly recommend both for meat eaters and veggies alike.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very overrated in the opinion of my group. The peanut noodles were particularly bland and basically looked like a pack of super noodles with some chopped veg on top. Cannelloni with broccoli was ok but nothing special. Aubergine gratin was not cooked properly. Garlic bread felt very cheap and lacked flavour.
First vegetarian restaurant we’ve tried in Portugal and it was a disappointment.
The waiter was lovely and very helpful. Nice setting.
