Nach einem längeren Fußmarsch durch die Natur und 2 Mal durch einen breiteren Bach kommt man zu dieser Anlage aus dem Mittelalter. Sie wird heute von den einheimischen aus der Umgebung noch genutzt. Das Wasser hat ca.25 Grad und es gibt 2 Becken. Es soll gegen Hautkrankheiten helfen. Unterhalb gibt es noch mehrere verfallene Gebäude. Es waren anscheinend ehemalige Wirtschaftsgebäude. Ein toller Ort zum Erholen und relaxen. Were in this place in 2019 where Portuguese kings seem to have bathed. After a long walk through nature and twice through a broader stream, you come to this facility from the Middle Ages. It is still used today by the locals from the area. The water is about 25 degrees and there are 2 pools. It is said to help against skin diseases. There are several derelict buildings below. Apparently they were former farm buildings. A great place to relax and unwind.

S	Stephan Seidel on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fonte Santa is a group of old buildings hidden in a small valley in the mountain range of Monchique. Most of the house are just ruins but two of them still have a roof and served once as a bath and can still be used as such. There are two stony bathtubs integrated into the floor and during my visit in Oct. 17 one was filled with water. There is also a valve on the outside wall where one can drain the tub. Apart from that there is not much to see but the walk from the road (look for the Fonte Santa sign just after the bridge) is nice and takes only 30-45 min. But be aware that you'll have to cross the river Ribeira de Monchique three times which can be difficult after rain or wet weather. In October when the weather was still hot there was hardly any water and crossing no problem.
s	sum124get on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The route we took was closed off 1 km from the main road where we left our car. The route to the ruins is an official walking path (red/yellow) but we came across a makeshift fence (brand new) with a sign "private property, beware of the dogs" , in Portuguese of course ;-). If we would go further we would be trespassing and we decided not to. So, if you decide to go, make sure you don't drive to the northwest of the ruins but plan a different route

R	Rowena Rowley on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thoroughly off the beaten track but well signposted, the thermal waters in the remaining buildings of this ruin are said to be very healing and well worth the trip for your skin and muscles. Must be up for walk to get to this beautiful location.
I	Ira Hoyer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A real adventure within a short hike. Well, this one is not for everyone. From the road where we have left the car, it’s only 1,5 km walk. Out of which 60% is a nice gravel road, where even the cars can drive. Depending on a season, be prepared to cross river several times (water is up to your ankles :)) very easy to cross. The last 400 meters is a bit steep and in places slippery climb. In the end, real ruins await you Everything is abandoned and almost falls apart. But the area with the three carved in granite baths is standing. Tiny altar. AND IMPORTANT we saw the note in Portuguese saying something about emptying the bath after you are done. That was an automatic translation and we are not sure what that means. Zero reception :) so no internet and no calls possible. Water is nice and don’t smell sulfur at all. Enjoy!
