★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Place with great views. The fortress is a great example of the portuguese border defensive system with Spain. Needs some requalification and maintenance. Hopefully it will have some consolidation work done soon.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Breathtaking views over the Guadiana river. I'm torn between the state of abandonment of this historic landmark, but I'm worried whether a possible intervention would erase its charm. The poppy fields were a incredible surprise.
