My wife Dawn came to the hospital early yesterday morning with chronic pains in her neck. We would both like to say what fabulous service we received. The doctor who treated my wife was Pedro Rocheta and the nurse was called Katya, they were incredible and made us feel very welcome and at ease. Nothing was too much trouble, thank you Loule Hospital.

I called twice and waited forever on the line. Nobody picked up the phone. Luckily it was no urgent matter and I only wanted to investigate for a PCR test for travelling ..... and not because I felt sick.

Appointment more than 2 hours late. Father can not accompain wife for pre natal consultation. They give the excuse that is a rule of the DGS which is a lie. So I am pretty disappointed with the service. If you have another option avoid this hospital or come with a lot of time and not accompanied, because your accompaniment will have to wait outside.

I would like to relay to you my recent poor experience with Clinica Internacional de Olhao and Hospital de Loule. On Sunday 5th September, I experienced a sudden loss of vision in my left eye. As I wished to take the quickest course of action, I contacted the Clinica Internacional de Olhao to arrange an appointment with an ophthalmologist. An appointment was made with Dr ***** for the 7th September. This service seemed impressive. When I arrived at the clinic, I was asked if I had any insurance and offered my EDP Saude card, which was accepted and led to a significant discount being given which I was very grateful for and reassured that it had been a good policy to have my energy supplied by EDP . During my eye examination it was confirmed that blood had leaked inside my left eye, causing significant sight loss. I was given a prescription for eye drops and told to make another appointment a week later. I was told that it may take up to a month for the blood leakage to disperse. Now knowing that there was a chance that a detached retina may be involved, a week without further action being taken is obliviously concerning. At the next appointment, (14th September) it was recommended that I attend Hospital de Loule to try and confirm the possible cause of the blood leakage. At this point, the possibility of a detached retina had not been suggested to me. I was very pleased to be offered an appointment later that day. Although relying on public transport, I arrived in time for my 16.00 hrs appointment, where further tests were carried out. I was then told that as I hadn’t made another appointment with Dr *****in Olhao, it would be possible for me to see a doctor in the hospital. I was told by the doctor that it was impossible for them to ascertain whether a detached retina was involved as the leaked blood was blocking any way of seeing. I was told that it was very important to have this checked and an operation to clear the leaked blood and make any repairs (if necessary) to the retina. I was at the hospital because I had impaired vision and while waiting for a covid test, an operation was miraculously arranged for the next morning, I realized that instead of the 640 euros I had previously believed the figure to be, it was a frightening 6450 euros. I could not afford to pay this sum and as soon as I realized my mistake, I informed the administrator that I was unable to undergo the operation after all. I was then informed that the doctor wanted to see me for a second time. I was told again that it was very important I have the operation to avoid losing the sight in my left eye and that I should consider having a cataract removed from my right eye. (Which does not affect my vision at all presently.) The following day, after advice from the centre de saude in Olhao, I was advised to go immediately to the emergency department in Faro hospital to seek the advice of the ophthalmologist there. Without an appointment, I was seen within two hours. I explained the situation where the hospital de Loule were not able to see the retina because of the blood blocking the view. The ophthalmologist seemed surprised to hear this and quickly arranged an ultrasound examination of my eye. It was possible to determine then that there was indeed damage to my retina and the same afternoon she performed a laser repair. I am not at happy with the treatment I have received from the Hospital de Loule, or the Clinica Internacional de Olhao, in fact I believe my health could have been seriously harmed by their lack of urgency. The prospect of revenue for what could have been an unnecessary operation was considered more important than my health. I sent a copy of this to Loule Hospital and although a serious allegation has been made, I have not received either acknowledgement or reply.

STAY AWAY! IT"S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!! Whenever they give you an estimate expect to pay at least 50% more. They will prescribe you an insane amount of unnecessary tests and doctor apointments to make sure you keep paying. LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR ALL YOUR HEALTHCARE NEEDS!

This is before all else a business. The medical staff are very good but the administration and running of the hospital is highly focused on profit above your well being. Customer service is good one day, bad the next, depending on who you are dealing with. Telephone service is very bad, nobody answers, the answering service says they have your number and will call you back but they never do. Nobody wants to accept responsibility for problems or errors. You, the customer, are always considered the one with the problem! Always check what they charge you and ask for full costing before treatments. It is often not what you expect. If you have an option to go elsewhere do!

I was sent to this Hospital to se a specilist by a lokal privat doctor in Tavira at Taviclinica but when I came to Loule and after 1 hour waiting I was cald to se the Doctor there and after he looked on my paper he told me that he could not do anything that he was not the right doctor to se so he recomend me to se another doctor in Faro all that took 3 min and they charge me 70+Euro for nothing since that doctor in Faro already have seen me and he could not help so what they do is poshing you around and you have to pay all around everytime for nothing so no more privat Hospital for me they are there for the money period :(

If you like wasting your time in a rather pointless place with no parking, then this is the hospital for you. It is basically a waiting room with no end to the wait. You wont really encounter any professionalism or doctors here. Made an appointment to see Dr. Miguel Nascimento. I imagine he is a reasonably good doctor but I have no way to tell because I never saw him. I waited over an hour with no communication or update and had to leave because I too have other appointments that I actually keep. Gambelas has much better service and the ability to actually see a doctor when you schedule it two weeks in advance. Dr. Nascimento will be better to choose a hospital run by a competent management team that does not ruin his good name with such poor communication and management.
