★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I first visited this Pousada about 1975 and stayed many times over 10 years when driving from UK to Algarve. Then I understand it was sold and became a 'boutique' hotel but now it has returned to being a Pousada. The building was constructed to be the accomodation and offices when the "dam" was built. I would like to return in 2020 but am now in a wheelchair. Yes it has a wonderful location.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a find! I was astonished at the low price, but I was also there totally off season. This is a lovely hotel, with an excellent restaurant. Our rooms had a spectacular view of the gorge. My father and I appeared to be the only guests in the hotel, which was fun in an eerie kind of way, and the skeleton crew manning the hotel were all doing multiple jobs. They clearly didn't anticipate any guests. They were all friendly and helpful, though, and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rooms were very clean and comfortable, bathrooms recently remodeled. Best views in town, overlooking the Duero below.
The staff was very pleasant - we had to leave very early, and someone came early to work to make us coffee and serve us breakfast.
The place to stay in town!
