Our story
In 1976, a small restaurant opened here on this beach. Over the years, the name of Julia's has become synonymous with fresh cuisine served within a relaxed environment in a location second to none. 46 years on and Julia's is still here delivering under the same original ethos. Customers return year after year for the great mixture of our fresh, home cuisine, friendly professional staff, great ambience and superb location on top of the Atlantic ocean. We pride ourselves on giving you freshly cooked cuisine every time with an attention to service that you expect.
Our family team , headed by Rui Anjos , have worked within the business for many years and our aim is the same now as it was back then- To produce a winning combination of international cuisine served by experienced and professional staff giving the perfect experience to all our clients time after time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I took my son, daughter in law and grandchildren here as a special treat as they were visiting from England. We booked a table with a sunset view which we didn’t get. The restaurant was busy but only had four servers who were clearly overwhelmed with the number of diners. The service was slow, we arrived at 6 and didn’t get our main till 8. The food was cold. There was no point in complaining as the staff were run off their feet. I have been recommending this restaurant to my clients for years but will not do so from now on. The owners response to previous review shows his lack of respect for his customers and this is reflected in his service.

Would go back but hopefully they can employ a few more staff in the future.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Still the best restaurant at Praia do Garrao! Julias is an institution, it has been here for more than 30 years and I hope it is here for many more. Was super happy to visit again post Covid and find it still busy and under the same ownership with a lot of the same kind and well trained staff. The piri piri chicken and African rice is amazing as always - my favourite on this coast. Excellent views, great wine and mixed drinks and lovely service. Service is always with a smile and we didn't wait long for service at all on a busy lunch time service. We loved it and we'll be back again! Thanks to the team!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful views and good food. The staff were friendly and professional but we caught them on a very busy day. We were waiting for almost 50 mins before ordering drinks - we would likely have ordered more had we been served quicker.
However I would recommend a visit if in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What an experience, the food was absolutely fantastic. I don't think we'll need to eat for a few days. We had the chowder for starter followed by the most amazing prawns. The service was a little slow but that is only if I was being picky. It isn't the cheapest, but the quality of the food justified it. You can see how this is a perfect spot to see the sunset, we were just a little too late on this occasion.
