★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Found by luck - we were hungry andjust set in first place that we saw - really good codfish and octopus - Portuguese cousine in best shape / one thing - owner don't know any word in English - we ordered by signs and a lot of smiling - for me it was best order ever :) / obdigado

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Better avoid this very basic and overpriced place with horrible food quality. The meals are not prepared in a healthy way and the owner in the kitchen seemed totally overworked. Ingredients are old and everything is greasy and extremely salty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In my opinion it's one of the best restaurants in Alfama. Authentic portuguese dishes, fresh fish and a lovely lady who runs the show almost always by herself. I've been there more than once and never got disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The overall feeling is that the place is dirty. My carrot slices tasted like dishwasher liquid and the potatoes had dishwasher sponge parts on them. Card payment is not accepted. You still have a lot of work to do to make this business okay!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The worst experience I’ve ever had in a portugese restaurant.
Served by a impatient and mannerless pig of a women and ultimately not served at all cause I commited the crime of looking at the menu for less than ten minutes and didn’t accept the extras of bred and and super market cheese. When I simply asked her what tíme it closed she snapped. Thankfully I walked and after reading many reviews on here I feel lucky.
I don’t know what it is about the tourist parts of a city always having the worst restaurants , the horrible service and the rip off merchants but I thought a otherwise great city like Lisbon would be the exception. Alarm bells should start ringing when the menus are in three different languages and they get pushy for an order. Start speaking the English of a over heated cash ATM

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Let's begin:
- dirty glasses
- the carrots tasted like soap
- there were pieces of dishwashing sponge through the food
- they said the small wine carafe is not enough for 3 persons so they encouraged us to buy the big one which was way too big
- they brought bread, olives and some cheap fish things which we had to pay but they didn't told us from the beginning. Just left them on the table and we supposed they're free
- it's over priced. We payed 19€ while until now we payed max 13€ (drink included)
- they didn't bring the ordered water but they wanted to charge it. They didn't though after talking with them

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don't think it can get anymore authentic than this. We were welcomed into this lovely restaurant by a woman that did not speak a word of English but she still managed to take my order and serve up some of the best and most delicious freshly made food I had in all of Lisbon.
I felt like I was transported back in time and looked after by an older family member. At one point she stood at the door and called out to the local butcher across the road to bring her more meat - it doesn't get fresher than that.
Please do not mistake her sharpness for rudeness she is simply trying to run the entire show by herself and make sure everyone is attended to.
If you want real food and a real Alfama experience go here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The lady is funny and friendly (some would say annoying - it depends). The food is OK - nothing special and a tad too expensive
But she is ambitious
