Lisboa Pessoa Hotel

4.7/5 based on 8 reviews

Fernando Pessoa is the most important Portuguese writer. Born in Lisbon in 1888, he lived mostly in the Lusitanian capital and had even resided in South Africa during his childhood. At 47, he had written thousands of pages of the best literature, making him one of the greatest contemporary poets. In his youth, he lived in the Carmo zone, a few meters from the Lisboa Pessoa Hotel, which is dedicated in his honor.

Pessoa’s most fascinating characteristic was what he called heteronymism, in other words, the fact that Pessoa invented fictitious authors called “heteronyms.” Each one had a “work,” a “biography,” a “style,” a “physionomy” unlike the others and even Pessoa, the “orthonym,” that is, himself. The floors of Lisboa Pessoa Hotel are dedicated to the main heteronyms – Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, and Álvaro de Campos.

Great location in the middle of Lisbon, super easy to get around. Amazing breakfast and possibility to have a drink or dinner with a view from the rooftop. Spa will just make your stay better. It won’t disappoint you!

Nice and quiet hotel in a great and convenient location. Comfy bed and affordable price. I have two small complaints: 1. The light switch set up in the room doesn't make sense and it's annoying to figure out what switches turn on/off what lights. 2. The bathroom sink, while it looks nice, is flat. The water doesn't really totally drain. These are modest complaints. Everything else was great and I enjoyed my stay!

I loved our 4 night stay at this hotel. Very clean and nice rooms. Love the roof top bar and their food’s quality. The best for when you are tired and just need to relax and enjoy your food an view. It’s far from the busy crazy center of the city and has a nice breakfast view. Highly recommended

We stayed 2 nights here, which we will never forget. The staff was very friendly and room is big enough for us and so clean. We were able to enjoy welcome drinks at 5th floor bar with a balcony where we were surprised at the breathtaking view of the city with sunsets. You should have breakfast at the hotel because you can eat at bar at 5th floor with splendid view. We had to leave hotel prior to the start of breakfast due to early flight. We asked staff if they could prepare the breakfast box or not 1 day before the check out, and they kindly prepared them at the time of check out! It was super great stay in Lisbon. We will come again when we come to Lisbon in the future.

This was one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The food was excellent, the beds and pillows were extra comfy and the staff were lovely. On Valentines Day we had an incredible dinner in the rooftop restaurant which was embellished by the presentation of a Pessoa poem and a red rose, along with pink champagne. We were sorry that such a dinner did not allow us do justice to the breakfast buffet, perfectly presented and featuring excellent pastries, made on the premises. Fruits, juices, delicious yoghurts, cheeses, charcuterie, breads and drinks were plentiful and delicious.

We had a lovely stay and the staff were very nice. Our only criticism was that the spa was not the relaxing experience that we hoped for. We were made to pay 6 euros by a man who was working at the spa for a swimming cap and he was very blunt and rude. We do not think when you paying a lot of money for a spa hotel that these costs should be added on without warning. Also there were far too many children splashing in the pool and a lot of misbehaved children throughout the hotel at breakfast. But that's the parents fault! Aside from that a lovely stay with a comfy bed and good breakfast in brilliant location

Beautiful hotel in great location. The receptionist was amazing, giving us lots of advise where to go and eat and did an outstanding job. The spa area is nice, however it was full of noisy children swimming, jumping and diving. It was not the relaxing experience we were hoping for. So I guess it’s the perfect spa hotel if you travel with kids though.

Had a great 3 night stay at this hotel. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The view from the roof top bar is amazing and also can be enjoyed while indulging in there amazing breakfast buffet. It’s location is perfect, nice and quiet but also just walking distance from most things. An added bonus was that they surprised me with a bottle of bubbles and some cake for my birthday which was a lovely gesture. I would Highly recommended this hotel for anyone visiting Lisbon.
