About Mercado Municipal de Lagos
Datada de 1665, este imóvel destinado ao armazenamento dos produtos trazidos pelas naus que aportavam a Lagos, situa-se na Praça do Infante, e ostenta na sua fachada principal, sobre cada uma das portas, um escudo de Armas do Reino do Algarve e, entre eles, a chancela do Conde de Avintes.

On the ground floor is the Fish Market with an enormous amount of fresh fish and sea food of all types imaginable
Climb the stairs up to the second floor and you will find a great array of fresh vegetables and other local produce including olive oils ,wines and port and spices and a lot more and there is also a small local cafe where you can and have a coffee and brandy as the locals do
On the second floor there is an excellent restaurant specialising in traditional cuisine
The market is well worth a visit if only to soak the local and traditional atmosphere

Upper floor with fruits and vegetables and souvenirs open, but I cannot see any difference between these products and the ones from a supermarket. Besides the price of course, which is obviously higher. Only 1-2 stands with veggies. Toilet sparkling clean! Everyone speaks English

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice local market in Lagos, mainly with al kinds of fresh fish, but also fruits and vegetables. Definitely worth to pay a visit when you are in the area. The market is not so big.
The toilets are clean and free of charge… that’s always good to know !
