★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ponte Romana.
Roman bridge. The Bridges built by the ancient Romans were the first of great size and are among the most durable in the world. Roman bridges were built of stones and had an arch as their basic structure (see arch bridge). Most also used concrete material that the Romans were the first to use in building bridges.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Uma ponte romana inserida no ambiente do parque. Vale a visita devido a esse facto apenas.
A Roman bridge inserted in the park environment. Worth the visit due to that fact alone.

This is considered the lowest bridge that crosses the River Ave. You can find a type of plank bridge, common on low-volume rivers, dating from the late 16th / 17th century (Modern Age).
The Roman bridge of Taipas was in Roman times essentially strategic and administrative and already in the Middle Ages it was considered a public road, which connected nearby villages.
Today it is a place to visit, mirrored in the waters of the River Ave and framed by green vegetation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Roman bridge has the architectural characteristic of the arch so this is not a Roman bridge.
If you follow the site that is in the description of this place you will check that this is known as the Ponte do Rio Ave or Ponte das Taipas ou Ponte sobre o Rio Ave. According to the description and based on the literature, it is believed that there may have been a Roman bridge. However, the bridge was demolished and this small bridge, Pontilhão, was built in its place.
