★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the most complete Iron Age settlement I've seen, very interesting and extensive. Just wish some of the explanations were more extensive and also tied into the artefacts in the museum.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very impressive site. The ruins are completely open to look at, and it's great to see how people used to live here. The lady at the entrance was very friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you like ruins and stones you may want to look at this one.
The Citânia de Briteiros is an archaeological site of the Castro culture located in the Portuguese civil parish of Briteiros São Salvador e Briteiros Santa Leocádia in the municipality of Guimarães; important for its size, "urban" form and developed architecture, it is one of the more excavated sites in northwestern Iberian Peninsula.
Although primarily known as the remains of an Iron Age proto-urban hill fort (or oppidum), the excavations at the site have revealed evidence of sequential settlement, extending from the Bronze to Middle Ages.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful and interesting archaeological site taking you back to the Iron Age... is very well kept and with notes in English and Portuguese... very large complex with many houses and walls and even the remains a of the communal bath... is a great experience and looks like a romantic and mythical setting... is historic and a place that the Portuguese people consider a treasure

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very interesting Iron Age settlement. It dates from the same time as the Santa Tegra settlement a little further north in Spain.
Very helpful and informative reception staff and a useful map provided.
Be careful walking around the site as there are unguarded drops. The way back to Reception from the chapel area is not well marked and we found it a bit of a scramble. Well worth the drive to get there if you are in this part of Portugal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ancient ruins. Wear good shoes since it's quite rocky and steep in some areas.
