We've stayed here with Elisabete and her son, daughter and her mother in this beautiful house in August. Took me a long time to write a recommendation. Finally I'll do it :) It was one of the best stays ever! It was such a nice and heart warming stay! We were like at home ! We had the best breakfast and Elisabete was so helpful ! We loved the winetasting and tasted her fathers 40 year old portwine and it was just the best experience ! Dears Elisabete, I hope you remember us, we will definitly come back one day, all the best Kathi&Moritz . Thanks again for everything and the nice chats

Wonderful, intimate experience of the Douro Valley staying in a working Quinta with formidable hosts Elisabete and her charming mother. Accommodation comprised beautifully decorated rooms filled with antiques and breathtaking views of the surrounding vineyard clad valleys. Hospitality was warm and friendly and we felt completely at home. Breakfast and picnic lunch was first class with personal touches and local delicacies. With a fantastic wine tasting on offer with really lovely touches from our hosts including lifts to and from town, this was an experience like no other. The swimming pool was a welcome highlight nestled amongst the vines. Highly recommended! We are longing to return. Thank you Elisabete, you are truly a wonderful woman and your wines the best we ever tasted! ❤️?❤️

Wonderful stay in the Douro valley! This gorgeous guesthouse run by the very warm and lovely Elisabete is our favourite place we stayed in Portugal. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. We were welcomed by Elisabete and she did everything to take care of us and really took the weight off by planning our weekend and giving great recommendations. We arrived in the evening after driving a scooter from Porto to Quinta do Fojo along the river (about 4 hours driving!) and she kindly prepared us a delicious meal of local bread, cheese, salads, olives and a beautiful white wine from a small producer close to her. We were so pleased and enjoyed the food and wine on the balcony. She also prepared a beautiful breakfast of bread, brioche, cheese, vegetables and fruits every morning too. The bedroom was wonderful. A very comfortable bed, a good temperature, views over the vineyards and very clean. The guesthouse itself is surrounded by gorgeous vineyards and walking routes. On our second day, Elisabete helped us plan our drive to Pinhao and checked the weather for us. In the evening, there was a lot of rain and she kindly booked us a table at a great restaurant in town which produced their own wines and was very reasonably priced and good quality food. We loved our stay so much, and we're so thankful for this wonderful experience in Douro valley! Thank you, Elisabete!

A real gem of a place to stay in the Douro Valley region. It’s a beautiful location, surrounded by vineyards with the river nearby. The swimming pool is a highlight - there’s a great view and it’s a lovely place to be as the sun comes down in the evening. It’s the hosts that make the place, however - Elisabete and her husband were incredibly warm and welcoming. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay

Spontaneous reservation. Elisabeth is incredibly kind, her place has everything you could wish for. A quinta with pool, her own wine and amazing breakfast with fresh produce. I will be back.

Quinta do Fôjo is a magical place, a little bit of paradise in the Douro Valley. I enjoyed a five-star visit on the last two days of the season, hosted by Elisabete and her husband, Manuel. Set on a hillside, in a vineyard, not far from Peso da Regúa, this charming family home casts a spell that challenges conventional search terms. The property is unquestionably gorgeous: a beautiful, tranquil location; fabulous views of the vineyards; a C19th house with lots of character; a spectacular pool and sun terrace at the top of the hill, etc., but it is Elisabeta’s eagerness to share her love of the valley and her family home that brings it to life! I had already warmed to Elisabeta on the phone, but I was still unprepared for her open and welcoming personality. She pours her heart into taking care of her guests with an enthusiasm that one just doesn’t expect as a stranger. How can you not feel welcome when someone collects you from the station and, finding out that you haven’t eaten, puts together a delicious impromptu dinner, which is served on the patio as the sun sets? How can you not feel at home when the bed is remade with a quilt on the second evening, because she wants to be sure you are warm enough? As a host Elisabeta is never intrusive, but she genuinely cares, and will go out of her way to make sure that you are both comfortable and happy. One of the best memories of my stay is of a hike, which Elisabeta mapped-out, through their vineyards and down along the Douro. At the time, mid-October, the vines were clothed in glorious autumn reds and golds, the birds and butterflies were still very active, and the fish were rising on the river. All very idyllic! I am already planning to revisit next spring. This time I hope to join my hosts at a local grill, that only operates on weekends, and to meet Elisabeta’s mother, who was away at the time of my stay. Highly recommended!!!

What a wonderful place! We had a great time at Quinta do Fôjo lounging by the pool and admiring the view. Elisabeth is a fantastic host. She and Manuel invited us to join them for dinner at a very nice churrasquera. They made us feel at home!

Best home stay of our entire trip. Elisabete and her husband are so welcoming and make you feel at home. Great views and relaxed vibes, that’s what you’ll find here. The location is also very good for exploring the Douro area (last pics). Couldn’t be better!
