Once upon a time, Rui Sequeira dreamed that he was going to open the first fine dining restaurant in Faro, his hometown. He studied hard, was a finalist in the Top Chef TV show, worked with the chef Serge Vieira, in France, and at 21 began his journey in the world of haute cuisine, joining one of the most prestigious restaurants in the country as an intern. His life was going well: he made it to sous-chef in record time and was now a 25-year-old up-and-coming chef with unique talent and creativity. The sky was the limit and his time to fly had arrived!

It was in 2017, with the unparalleled support of his wife Cristina, that the chef took his long-time dream out of the drawer and together they began to design it. They were told they would never make it, that Faro was not ready for a fine dining concept. But the couple dreamt so hard, and with so much love… That the "impossible"started to become real.

Alameda was born in their heads (and hearts) long before it opened. While it's physical space was still under construction, the couple opened the doors of their home and created the first Supper Club in the Algarve, Oitavo Frente: 8 strangers, a surprise tasting menu with wine pairing prepared and served by the hosts. What started as an idea to test possible dishes for the Alameda menu turned out to be much more than that. The locals embraced the concept with curiosity and enthusiasm, joining the couple for dozens of wonderful and full of emotions dinners. This happy journey lasted for many months and confirmed what the couple already knew in their hearts: their restaurant was going to break down barriers and succeed in a city with a thirst for innovation.

December 22nd, 2018, the day the veil was lifted and the Alameda of Rui and Cristina Sequeira finally opened its doors. Named afterJardim da Alameda, the oldest and most iconic garden in the city, the restaurant was everything they envisioned. Different and bold but, at the same time, intimate and welcoming. They dreamed, and the world jumped and advanced.
