Restaurante Kinkas

Went there for a nice dinner with our family. The receipt was very friendly. But then the disaster started. After one hour of only waiting no food was served. We asked a few times and we learned that they simply forgot us. But the worst thing to do is lying about it. No sorry no nothing so they still had to start to prepare our menu and had to wait again. We paid what we used and disappeared. The owner suddenly was fast and came to us. We did not pay enough!! No sorry No nothing. The food was ready he said. So we were hungry and started the meal. The French fries were like spaghetti. Full of oil and not really fried. The meat was very poor. So was the service. No criticism was accepted. Out of politeness we finished. Did not pay any tip and left. The only thing the restaurant owner could tell me was: have a nice holiday. So a bigger disappointment was hardly possible. My humble advice: if you make a mistake, be honest to the customer and offer a proper solution. Do not simply run away from a problem so customers will never come back again and force you to place a negative review. Kind regards, Robert and family. Greetings from The Netherlands.

Very bad experience. Came to olhao to eat seafood which is the local speciality and they didn't have any available at 21h... Very bad service, don't accept credit card and the food we ended up ordering was just average. Not recommended.

Very poor service, the credit card machine still isn't working. Came a few days ago and had an excellent meal, this time absolutely atrocious, you would not think it was the same place.

Let me tell you a story, there are two restaurants beside each other, one is empty with no customers..the other is full of customers.. we decided to go to the one with the packed terrace, thinking that they do something better than the other place...big mistake..we got ourselves into a chaotic messy lunch rush with a place that was understaffed. The waiter was nice and polite but very rushed and as a result we felt very rushed too. After he got a table for us we got 1 menu, two of us got 1 menu.. okay..let's move one.. the hatch was just 2m away so we could see the kitchen in full operation...let me tell you with my 13y of chef experience, I was not impressed seeing a pile of dirty plates sitting on the hatch,the kitchen staff was running and very frustrated and super disorganised. After about 15mins the waiter took our drink order,happy days. We thought we could order food as soon as our drinks arrived.But that was not the case.We got one of the drinks and the other followed in like another 15mins.Then we were told that the fish dish I chose was not available. ..okay ...I said I need a minute to choose another dish..here I felt I was pushed to choose immediately...I wasn't ready to choose immediately..anyway, I made a decision but it took more time to be able to place my order because the waiter was running like a headless chicken.Okay now that the order was in we waited for about 25mins and finally the food arrived.The grilled fish was not cleaned properly.We could still see the blood and the dirt around the fish head and on the bones. The meat dish was subpar. We were hungry so we had to eat it all.I ordered for another drink and thst took its own sweet time to arrive.We found the staff giving more attention to their customers who seemed to be their friends.They didn't bring the bill right away,even though we asked for it q while ago, so we had to go to the counter to pay and to no surprise, they didn't accept card payment . Will not recommend this place.

Very dirty place with all stuff well used and very little attention to hygiene.. asked for olive oil and bottles were very soiled on the tops as was pepper grinder. Child seat was also very dirty and staff were more interested in chatting to passing feiends than keeping the place well. Had Sea Bream which was okay but my wife got prawns that were incinerated and not good at all.. would not go back and there must be better places around than this one.

An hour for the meal to arrive without communication or explanation. Octopus rice though was good. Some of the waitering was unfriendly. On the whole, not the best experience.

We loved the waiter who was very polite and did everything we asked. The place itself is clean, but dated - in my opinion it adds to the character. We have ordered a seafood cataplana and it was gorgeous. In fact we tried food at several traditional restaurants whilst in olhao and Kinkas was my favourite. You can be picky and highlight that it is dated, but the food was to die for. The only thing that could have been changed was that there was a local chap who was very funny hanging out there, but to some he could have come across annoying, but the best advice I got about choosing places is - where the locals go food is the best. Enjoy.

Excellent restaurant been here a few times now, food is lovely, had the squid ? my first evening was fantastic the second I have the octopus ? was also fantastic, lovely red wine, overall a really lovely place, prices are very reasonable, will definitely visit again
