About Retrosaria Rosa Pomar
Retrosaria (Portuguese for haberdashery) started online in January 2008. In the end of 2009 we opened our shop at Rua do Loreto, in the heart of Lisbon. Rosa Pomar spends her time between the shop, where she teaches most of our classes, and her field research of Portuguese textiles. One of the products of this work is our range of yarns, some of which are handspun by skilled artisans using traditional tools and methods.

They had a full range of colours so I purchased a few balls. My purchase arrived in Australia 18 days later! Wonderful service and responses to emails. Will definitely return to them and recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a lovely yarn shop and definitely the best one I found while travelling here from Italy. While most other shops sell hardly anything but acrylic yarns you get the good stuff here. It's not a huge store but they have a nice selection. Some of it I could also buy at home so I chose some of the Portuguese yarns. They sell sock yarn too, hard to come by in southern Europe. The staff is friendly but does not talk too much at first. Yarns can be ordered online and are shipped worldwide. And there is a book about Portuguese knitting that might be translated into English next year. I am looking forward to it.
