★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great atmosphere, but keep in mind it’s a bar . So don’t expect anything from the food menus. Better go after dinner, there won’t be any queue after 11pm.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unbelievable unprofessional attitude. Made a reservation for 16 People days before via telephone. The tables were only two, extremely small that could fit max 6 people. The waitress couldn't care less and was really hostile as i arrived alone in the beginning. She told me that if i am alone no table for me and that i have 5 minutes to gather my company on Saturday night.
Unbelievable. Just don't go there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Positives first. The fado music was amazing and the atmosphere was incredibly authentic and real - I really got the feeling of being in a locals place, evocative and genuine. You are sat close to the performers, so the experience is intimate and connected, upfront and personal.
However.
The purpose of a review is to let others aware of issues.
And yes, there are a few issues. A potential customer should bear them carefully in mind because I don’t feel like this venue is for everyone. The waitress was extremely rude, sullen and unfriendly to the point of me wondering if I had inadvertently done something to offend her. Very poor customer service. The food was mediocre - do not expect anything impressive. The draft beer was also not fresh, it felt like the pipes needed a good clean. You should also be aware that once the music starts, you need to remain quiet - not a problem as far as I am concerned as the fado was genuinely moving and beautiful to listen to. Reservations are an absolute must. I went on a Tuesday and it was packed, completely full and many hopefuls were turned away disappointed at the door. You have to be prepared and happy about sitting very close, sardine-like with fellow patrons. Expect to share tables and to be bumped and hustled.
All in all, despite the negatives, I loved the experience. I am a live music lover, and the authenticity and passion blew me away.
So ultimately I didn’t mind about the frosty somewhat arrogant attitude of some of the staff, as the music transcended that.
However don’t come here expecting great food and drink. That’s not the purpose of the place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You get what you come for here— dive bar with live fado. The food was ehh, but again, we didn’t come for the food. We reserved a table the night before (highly recommended, as this place is popular and gets packed), and stayed for two rounds of fado performers. It was really fun and interesting to see fado in this setting!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Never mind the reviews about the food. This is a Fado house, and as such it has been a wonderful experience. A vibrant ambiance, heartfelt singing, and some honest plain pub food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A few people recommended me this restaurant as the best place to listen to some live Fado. My experience was very disappointing.
The place it's tiny. If you get a table close to the kitchen it smells like oil. We ordered some tapas and they were kind of overpriced and not so tasty. The sangría tasted like if they had just mixed some sugary drink with red wine and threw a couple of orange and lime slices there. We though that it didn't matter that much because we had gone for the Fado, not for the food or drinks, but sadly the show wasn't anything really special.
Maybe this is the place to come if you're a Fado expert, maybe they have the best artists in Lisbon, but to my tourist untrained ear it sounded like any other singer. I actually enjoyed it better in another restaurant later on the same week, maybe because the food, drinks and place were better. So I wouldn't go here, not really worth all the extra disappointments.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place to experience the Portuguese wine and some amazing fado music. You need to wait to get a seat and you will sit with a stranger but it is worth the visit. Order a jar of wine or sangria and enjoy some traditional music.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I tried to come here the night before and was told I needed reservations.
A bit annoyed cause the Facebook page didn’t say anything about it. So made reservations for the next night. I get there and I am sat down in a very cramped space. So far so bad I’m thinking. I order a pitcher of sangria and it’s delicious. I order tapas. All delicious. Then the lights come down. Front door is closed. And the Fado begins. At this point I am beyond sold. Also wasn’t surprised to see a picture of Anthony Bourdain with the owner on the wall. This is definitely a place he would have come too. So make reservations.
Bring cash cause they don’t take card. And bring an open mind. It will pay off.
