★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice cosy place, but the food was disappointing. We had roast kid (cabrito assado), a typical dish from the region, but the seasoning was odd and the potatoes were reheated.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We entered the dinning area to check how it was, the owner asked us : what are you doing here, in an unfriendly tone. I guess this is what happens when you get noticed on tripadvisor - you don't care anymore.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is fantastic. The food is great and the you cannot beat the views! The owners are kind and patient with those who don't speak Portuguese very well.... Or at all. If you are in Lousa, stop in and get some food and their house wine, you won't be sorry.... Bonus, go at sunset because there is nothing more magical than enjoying delicious food and watching the sunset over ancient mountain village of Talasnal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Much of the current interest in regional, local foods is little more than a passing fad, a curios for the bored affluent classes looking to claim a slice of exclusivity money alone can't buy. Nothing wrong with that, as far as it goes, but that's not what Ti Lena is about. No matter who you are, what you do, where you come from, the aim is always the same: to feed you well and send you on your way.
Not one for vegans or vegetarians; traditional foods were perfected by need over the ages, and that meant eating meat as often as you could afford it. To make old goat palatable, it was drowned in red wine and slow cooked in black clay pots, until the combination of wine and tough meat melded into a soft, unctuous delicacy that tastes like cured cheese. This is what the call chanfana, and it is imperative you have some.
Also order cabrito. Young goat, tender and milder in flavour, roasted with potatoes and chestnuts, this is as simple as it is delicious. It comes with offal rice - not for the faint of heart, but certainly for the stout of stomach.
Wonderful comfort food in a beautiful setting, worth every drop of sweat along the strenuous hikes in the area.
