J	John on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exceptional service and stunning decor. Attentive staff was awaiting our arrival and secured our baggage while we were approaching along the sidewalk! Every attention to detail is on target to providing incredible memories for a phenomenal experience. We were pleasantly greeted by Celia at the front desk for a flawless check in. Celia was thoughtful and helpful in facilitating a hair appointment and made great recommendations for the area. The manager, Gonzalo, was encountered while walking about the hotel and he approached us and introduced himself and offered any assistance the hotel can provide for an enjoyable stay. He is obviously attentive to the hotel operations and was encountered several times, working the reception desk, and in the restaurant in the late evening. Gonzalo offered several excellent suggestions for dining and wine tasting locally. The restaurant staff, Isaura, Vanessa, and Rafael were wonderfully attentive without being over board and everything we were served was delicious and was plated beautifully. Overall this was an exceptional opportunity to stay at a beautiful hotel with top notch loving staff. We will look forward to staying here again and bringing more family and friends to this hidden gem!

The location made it simple to get to the train station and we were able to walk just about anywhere else. Highly recommend.
N	Nikhitha Yakkanti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place! We were assigned to an apartment which was nice because it had a bathroom, living room area, and a bedroom. The beds were comfortable! I kind of wish we were assigned a room in the main hotel though because we had to lug our suitcases to the apartments which was 5 min walking distance from the mail hotel. The staff were extremely nice and friendly and upon arrival we were given welcome drinks (wine of our choice). The parking is a little bit of a hassle. Other than that, great place.

We had a large group staying in multiple rooms at the newer apartments (not the historic suites main building which is more expensive), and the hotel staff were kind enough to put us in rooms near each other. All the rooms were gorgeous, with great views of Porto (especially from the top floor), and included big bathrooms and kitchenettes and living areas, which were amazing. We wished we could've stayed longer to enjoy it more. You also get a free drink voucher when you arrive, to use at the bar at the main suites building, and you can explore the library at the main building which is beautiful. It only takes about 4 minutes to walk from one building to the other, if you're split between the two.

We stayed at PortoBay Flores (which itself deserves a 5 star review, but rooms are a bit small) but if we visit again we would definitely stay here. Photos don’t do it justice.Very elegant and spacious. Five star feel. Apparently the most requested regular room is 10, for suites it is rooms 1 and 2. For duplexes it is 8 and 9.

The staff from the cleaning staff to everyone at the front desk was marvelous. They had great communication with us helping us with tours, dinner reservations and more. It was a sensational stay and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I could not imagine a better location as well.

From the moment we arrived outside the hotel to the moment we left the service was above and beyond expectation. The staff did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and we appreciated it very much. They made us feel appreciated and like they really cared. We felt like it was a small family and we were part of it. We stayed in a deluxe room with a bathtub and it was beautiful. Everything was very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the little touches like keeping the original doors and locks on all of the rooms. This hotel is working to keep Portugal's past alive and vibrant. We will not stay anywhere else in Porto.
B	Benjamin Goldenberg on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Back in November 2019 I made a reservation for 2 nights in May 2020 for a price of 830€: because of Covid the trip was made impossible. The hotel offered me a voucher to be used before the end of 2020 and then the end of 2021. However when I decided to use the voucher, and right before completing the reservation, I found out on TripAdvisor that while the hotel was still giving the impression that we could make it to the hotel, Torrel 1884 was actually closed! They made people come to Porto and then have them stay in another hotel (which is already pure fraud). Never did they mention the hotel was closed (see photo of my July 2021 reservation), they were offering voucher that could actually not be used in this very hotel. I therefore contacted their service to say we would not come obviously, and I was told (in August 2021, see photo) that accordance with Decree-Law 17/2020 of Portuguese Law, if we did not use our voucher before December 31, 2021, the hotel offered 2 options: voucher extension or full refund within 14 days after voucher expiration (December 31, 2021). Since then, I have made countless requests (about 10 emails and 5 phone calls) for a full refund after 31 December 2021, and despite my numerous requests, the refund has not been processed yet. This is purely and simply fraud and thievery since they are holding on to my money for 2 years now. And judging from other reviews on TripAdvisor and Google (see the latest ones), I am not the only customer that has been defrauded. Stay away from this hotel and group.
