About Volta do Mar - Outdoor & Cultural Experiences
Andre is a local Algarvian raised on a diet of sunshine, fresh seafood and local sweets. He spent his childhood summers running around on the beaches of Lago, impersonating his favourite comic-book characters, occasionally getting into strife, and often passed-out in sugar-induced comas from eating too many delicious Portuguese treats. After studying tourism at university and learning capoeira, rockclimbing, mountainbiking, and diving, he did his best superhero impersonation and took off around the world to hone his skills and make a career out of fun and adventure. He has since travelled the world as a professional diving and climbing instructor, entertaining tourists in Greece, Thailand, Egypt, and France.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went climbing with Andre last August (a bit late on the review). Having only climbed the Gunks before everything about the experience was new - the water, the views and the rock was so different! Our small group of strangers had a blast together and even though there were varying levels of experience on the trip Andres’ patience and smile made sure everyone was having fun! Andre went over and beyond, I would go on any adventure with Volta do Mar.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had such a nice snorkelling experience! Riccardo was so nice and friendly. The Equipment (neo,water glasses etc) were perfect and we stayed about 1 hour in the water.
We also rented bikes from Riccardo: the communication was excellent and the bikes he provided as well!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My fiancée and I took a beginner top rope course and were accompanied by the most knowledgable and professional guide I could ever have expected. He has bolted the routes himself in Bensafrim and made the experience very productive. We each climbed 4-5 different routes and the difficulty progression was just right. 60 per person for a private tour with pickup and drop off, all the gear , and a solid 4 hour session was a pretty good deal. I would try the Sagres level 2 area next time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rock climbing with Andre and Ricardo was amazing! We visited 2 beautiful spots near Sagres, the second one was directly over the ocean. You'll be in good hands climbing with these guys--they know the area extremely well, being from this region, and have set all the bolts themselves to ensure safety. Highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Can't say enough good things about our trip with our guide Pedro. We took the wine tour and stopped at 2 great places, and got a nice behind the scenes look. Pedro was pleasant and full of as much knowledge as the winemakers we met. He was also able to give us some great recommendations for local places to eat and see.
If we find ourselves here again we will definitely be back to take a different tour with Volta do Mar again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ AMAZING climbing experience!!! We had 2 great climbing days (Bensafrim & Sagres) with André, who is an awesome guide and such a lovely human being (good vibes only).
He took enough time to explain everything properly and also gave helpful guidance through the routes (whenever needed).
Would highly recommend this tour with André, as he not only gave us a great climbing experience, but also made our day with his nice & positive nature!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was the second time we booked a climbing trip with Volta do Mar and both times were amazing. The guides are super friendly and have great knowledge about the area. The climbing next to the Atlantic was absolutely stunning. I am sure we book again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had two seperate climbing experiences with these guys. One in Bensafrim and another at the coast of Sagres. The guides are super friendly and know the area well. They found the best routes for us and gave us tips to improve our technique. We couldn't ask for more. muito obrigada :)
