Alentejo Star Hotel

So much potential wasted... The hotel location is great, right next to the Mina de São Domingos river beach. The rooms are decent, although there may be some improvements - for instance, the TV system needs to be urgently reviewed, with a poor channel selection and a daunting image quality. Also the wi-fi access system of the hotel is somewhat poorly implemented - a login and password for each of the devices that connect to the Internet - does not make any sense. The swimming pool is great... it has a bar too - but it's closed?!? (you have a bell to call someone to serve you a drink on the pool). The hotel has an observatory, but it only opens on saturdays - and you need at least a group of 6 persons and you have to pay a fee. For those fitness fans, the hotel as a above average gym... which is great! The surrounding spaces on the hotel are great and also the inside areas are amazing. There are some surrounding areas that deserve a visit. The breakfast is good, with some variety, although some of things need to be improved. Dinner is overpriced, in particularly what they charge for the drinks. Check-in and checkout times, need to be reviewed - there's no option for late checkout, for instance. It also looks the hotel has some lack of staff - however existing staff is great and helpful. All in all, it is a good hotel to stay for a couple of nights and to enjoy some relaxing moments.

We've been to this hotel for our good friends wedding. Our friends prepared everything and brought really nice stuff to decorate the hotel.. Everything was amazing, the only bad thing was the service... The staff was not really prepared for this kind of event... the dinner took around 4hours... 4 dishes... 1 hour per dish... a bit disgraceful. Even if we were talking to each other meanwhile it was too long for a dinner... They should prepare themselves better if they want to make this type of events in the future.

Always welcome here for many years. Always good to go back. Added an astronomical visit this time - a definite must. Alex is tops.

Well, the first day of our visit was totally amazing. It's a wonderful building and the room was really nice. The dinner was a served menue and delicious. On the second day all was much worse. Dinner as self service and almost cold, we got the wrong drinks and the music was totally weird. At the breakfast the coffee was cold. And sadly the massage function of our bathtub didn't work. So, 5 stars for the first day, 2 stars for the second.

Clean, friendly staff, pool so so, restaurant standard. Rooms not so quiet. Small beach nearby.

My husband and I loved this hotel whilst travelling through Portugal. We stayed 1 night only and had a really nice dinner. Our bedroom and private terrace was so nice. We would have stayed longer but had already booked another hotel on our homeward journey. The place is so beautiful and had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were so welcoming and couldn't have done enough to make our stay more enjoyable. When in this region again we will certainly go back and stay longer.

Amazing old house, but badly needed to be painted. Very helpful staff.

Nice place to run away from stress and busy life. Very good conditions, the rooms are wide and comfortable, the restaurant has many choices and the staff are nice. The pool and outside area are great.
