★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Caíque do Bom Sucesso, no dia 6 de julho de 1808 um grupo de pescadores olhanenses embarcou no caíque do bom sucesso, barco de pesca com duas velas e cerca de vinte metros de comprimento por cinco de largura e atravessou o oceano atlântico para informar o Rei D. João VI, então refugiado no Brasil que a população de olhão havia conseguido expulsar os invasores franceses. Como recompensa por tão bravo feito, o Rei concedeu o foral de Vila de Restauração a Olhão, que desse modo se tornou administrativamente independente de Faro. A réplica do caíque Bom Sucesso encontra-se presentemente ancorada na marina de Olhão junto ao mercado.
Caíque do Bom Sucesso, on July 6, 1808 a group of fishermen from Olhão embarked on the caíque do bom Sucesso, a fishing boat with two sails and about twenty meters long by five wide and crossed the Atlantic Ocean to inform the King John VI, then refuge in Brazil that the population had olhão to expel the French invaders. As a reward for such a brave deed, the King granted the charter of Vila de Restauração to Olhão, which in this way became administratively independent from Faro. The replica of the Bom Sucesso caique is currently anchored in the Olhão marina next to the market.
