M	Michael Jacobs on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ryan and his team are very humble. I've traveled the world for food and wine, having many amazing experiences along the way. For our trip to Portugal my wife and I wanted insider access to the best experiences without getting bogged down in too many touristy things. Ryan and his teams services were more than worth every penny we spent. The team at Catavino have an uncommonly detailed and up to date list of recommendations that they tailored for us based on our requirements and when we would be traveling. They arranged all of the details and allowed us to really enjoy our trip. The wine tastings, tours and meals they arranged were all superb. While we may have found and arranged a few of them on our own there's no way we would have found or been able to arrange them all. I also credit them with two of the most incredible tasting experiences of my life. One was at a family winery tasting ports out of barrels and the other was in Madeira tasting through all of the grape varietals used in vintage bottles going way way back in time. We've always planned out our trips on our own to save money, but we made the exception to work with Catavino this time as it was clear that they could provide great value and many unique experiences. They then completely exceeded our expectations. We can't recommend them enough!

We had the chance to meet one very young producer (Oscar Quevedo: thanks!) who did a complete tour through one of his vineyards and educated us on the different types of grapes the Douro has to offer and how the wine in this winery is made. The highlight was a great food experience in the winery while staring at the amazing Douro landscape, while sipping whites, red and port wine from the same house. Thanks!!

So glad we decided to work with them and didn't try to save a couple bucks and do this trip DIY. After an initial phone interview to discuss what we wanted to see and do they were totally tuned in to our travel preferences and style. We flew in to Lisbon, spent a couple days there then moved up to Porto for a couple days, the Douro Valley for a few and finished in Cervães in the northern region. At every stop we were met by friendly, professional drivers, wonderful private English speaking tour guides, great 4 & 5 star hotels and of course amazing food and wine. In every region we were treated to tours and excursions that were "off the beaten path" that we never would have found on our own. We can't thank Ana, Ryan & Catavino enough for creating our custom itinerary that will be a great memory for a lifetime!

On short notice, we rebooked our trip this Fall..... Different time of year, different timeline of stay, and different request. Ryan, Ana, and the whole team made it perfectly seamless. It was completely worry free and stress free. There is no way we would have experienced Portugal to the extent we did, if we planned on our own. You know they have it the mark when my 25 year old son said " They created memorable experiences, not just tours"!!

We started in the Douro Valley where we enjoyed cooking (and drinking) with a Countess, wonderful port tastings at several beautiful wineries, and lunch at the most charming, and wonderful restaurant - Toca da Raposa. We then transitioned to Porto where we had a perfectly planned food tour with Jose Silva followed the next day by Ryan leading us through more delicious port tastings. It was a worry-free experience with almost everything taken care of to include the tours, the drivers, and the hotels. We highly recommend working with Catavino Tours if you want a specialized and personalized experience. What a great memory that will be kept alive as we enjoy the beautiful bottles of port that we brought home with us.
