Dear Breakfast - Alfama - Largo de Santo António da Sé 16

4.6/5 based on 8 reviews

With a love for the idea of having brunch everyday, Julien Garrec opened the first Dear Breakfast outpost in August 2017 in the Sao Bento district of Lisbon. A welcome addition to the ever growing foodie hotspot list in this neighborhood which hosts the Time Out market.
Dear Breakfast mixes influences from international cultures with downtown Lisbon cool to create a concept aesthetically interesting, taste-bud stimulating, and decidedly healthy to boot. Inspired by the idea of developing egg-centric dishes paired with creative juices and cocktails, the Chefs Raquel Patronilho (ex Ritz Lisbon)and Steve Brown execute a seasonal menu of locally sourced ingredients whenever possible for an all-day breakfast.

Set over two levels, the restaurant has been dressed by architects Carlos Aragao and Joao Pombeiro Machado (Studio Astolfi), who smoothed out the existing exposed brick walls, build cement arches and add a giant mirror to the ceiling as a trompe l’oeil who marvels everyone who steps inside. Downstairs, a secret room will host on September the most intimate breakfast of the city. And despite the trendy downtown vibe, you won’t find any mason jars or refurbished whimsical objects atop your table : the design is clean and bright with white-washed walls and portuguese marble tables.

Sit on a comfy chairs, wake up at a leisurely speed to low-fi music on the sound system, and tuck into a delicious meal that may include our famous benedict, caramel and banana pancakes or the terrific scrambled eggs with truffles.

Dear Breakfast opened recently two new locations in Lisbon - Dear Breakfast Chiado - located in an iconic street where you can admire the ballet of the old tramways passing by. And Dear Breakfast Alfama - which sits on the most beautiful place of Lisbon, near by the Sé cathedral. Our kitchens are open for breakfast lovers from everywhere, every day, all day.

A great place in Lisbon for brunch/breakfast! Really attentive and friendly staff, especially Eva, really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much and they didn't rush us even though we were a big group of 8. The food was great and the cafe is gorgeous. Will definitely be back again.

I love the atmosphere here. The brick arched ceilings are so beautiful. The staff were very kind! Benedict was good but a bit more hollandaise sauce would have made it even better. The egg was poached perfectly. The rancheros was flavourful and delicious. I would come back here again for sure.

Absolutely delightful place and people! Just incredibly beautiful and aesthetically pleasing with enormous open windows on the square. Food was incredible, we got the avocado toast and the açaí bowl with cappuccinos and everything was perfect. The people working there are a delight, super kind and available with a bright small on their faces! A personal thank you to Gonzalo <3 Keep up the good work, we will be back :)

I ordered the "brunch" option on the menu which included a coffee/tea of my choice, a juice or brunch cocktail, a croissant & toast w/ jam and butter, and either an egg plate or pancakes. Everything was absolutely delicious! The egg sandwich was sizable and the bacon was perfectly cooked. Definitely a bit pricier if you're expecting the 3 euro bread and coffee from cafes around Lisbon. For a fancier place to have brunch in Lisbon this was perfect! I waited about 15 minutes for a table on a weekend around noon, so the wait could be long if you're there with a group and don't have a reservation.

This place was great to get breakfast. Prices are reasonable. We got the egg sandwich, and avocado toast, for drinks I had a cappuccino, and two shakes(Tasty Detox & Avocado Green). The shakes were might and refreshing. There was entry of seating available and the staff will check your COVID Card/Green Pass before entering. Staff was nice and attentive. They spoke English and had an English menu too. We would definitely comeback and maybe make this place a regular thing, if we lived here. The restaurant accepts card and cash as well. It's also one floor so they can most likely accomodate if you have specific needs to getting around. Just be aware that it is located somewhat uphill.

It’s rare that I feel compelled to write a five star review immediately after a first time visit, but here we go. Here’s the scenario… You’ve travelled all over the world. Once in awhile during your travels you head to a place that you hadn’t heard of or researched at all beforehand. You simply see a couple of decent photos on Google maps and decide “Sure, let’s try this place.” And then your mind gets blown. The venue is stunning in the morning as the sun trickles in. The staff welcomes you with a smile and great attitude; they are attentive and pleasant the remainder of your stay. The drinks come fast, and they are delicious. The food comes quick too, and the presentation is impeccable — not to mention the flavour and texture. Everything is on point and you can’t stop saying “Wow.” The bill comes and you’re more than happy to pay it and tip well, because it has to be one of the best value meals you’ve had while travelling in a long time. In terms of the service, quality, and ambience you are getting… Dear Breakfast is a must try. There is no doubt — we’ll be heading back for breakfast tomorrow.

Very friendly waiter. Great menu. Slightly on the pricey side for breakfast but my friends breakfast did look incredible! I had the egg sandwich, eggs were cooked very well in gluten free bread which was impressive. Lovely cocktails to have with your all day breakfast.
