Dear Breakfast - Bica - R. Gaivotas 17
With a love for the idea of having brunch everyday, Julien Garrec opened the first Dear Breakfast outpost in August 2017 in the Sao Bento district of Lisbon. A welcome addition to the ever growing foodie hotspot list in this neighborhood which hosts the Time Out market.
Dear Breakfast mixes influences from international cultures with downtown Lisbon cool to create a concept aesthetically interesting, taste-bud stimulating, and decidedly healthy to boot. Inspired by the idea of developing egg-centric dishes paired with creative juices and cocktails, the Chefs Raquel Patronilho (ex Ritz Lisbon)and Steve Brown execute a seasonal menu of locally sourced ingredients whenever possible for an all-day breakfast.
Set over two levels, the restaurant has been dressed by architects Carlos Aragao and Joao Pombeiro Machado (Studio Astolfi), who smoothed out the existing exposed brick walls, build cement arches and add a giant mirror to the ceiling as a trompe l’oeil who marvels everyone who steps inside. Downstairs, a secret room will host on September the most intimate breakfast of the city. And despite the trendy downtown vibe, you won’t find any mason jars or refurbished whimsical objects atop your table : the design is clean and bright with white-washed walls and portuguese marble tables.
Sit on a comfy chairs, wake up at a leisurely speed to low-fi music on the sound system, and tuck into a delicious meal that may include our famous benedict, caramel and banana pancakes or the terrific scrambled eggs with truffles.
Dear Breakfast opened recently two new locations in Lisbon - Dear Breakfast Chiado - located in an iconic street where you can admire the ballet of the old tramways passing by. And Dear Breakfast Alfama - which sits on the most beautiful place of Lisbon, near by the Sé cathedral. Our kitchens are open for breakfast lovers from everywhere, every day, all day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The biggest brunch I ever had. This was the closest experience to a HEALTHY english breakfast - I got the sausage with beans, mushrooms, potatoes and sunny eggs. I did force myself to eat it all, so at the end I was: Dear breakfast, please stay inside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect place for brunch. Good sized portions, great variety of choices (meaty, vegetarian, vegan). They also have non diary milks ?? The only reason of what I put 4 stars and not 5 is because they are very slow!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great food and coffee! Definitely worth the wait (20-30mins) since it is a popular place and Covid-19 protocol (limited seating). I checked online and it appears you can make reservations. The staff is attentive while they are busy, which was key to the experience. We ordered the Full Breakfast and Pancakes - Salty. Delicious! I enjoyed the decor, cleanness and polite and friendly staff. Thanks

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had the best breakfast of my visit to Lisbon here. I got the egg with toast and potatoes and it was absolutely amazing. Can't recommend it enough. We got in before the queue which was great. Cool cave like building as well. I'd definitely recommend going for breakfast.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was the BEST breakfast in Lisbon! They were super COVID safe (they checked your vaccine card/negative test results at the door). The food was amazing, we got the sausage meal and the savory pancakes and both were amazing!!! Would really recommend the sausage meal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a cute spot, felt like I was having breakfast in a cave. The white washed walls and lighting makes it feels very calming.
The food, coffee is of international quality too. I definitely suggest the salty pancakes with a flat white.
