O Marinheiro - Caminho Praia da Coelha

Awesome! From the food to the staff, everything was perfect. Such a memorable evening and the food is just out of this world. I would put it up there as one of my favourite all time meals!

We, a family with two children, have eaten at O Marinheiro (“The Fisherman”) four times, twice in 2020 and twice in 2021. The restaurant has a cozy, yet open and transparent atmosphere. The place is kept super-clean, both in the restaurant and washrooms. There is usually space for parking in their own car park as well as on the road. The staff has been very welcoming and friendly on all four visits. The advice given on food and wine has been helpful and objectively transparent. The food is absolutely outstanding for the Algarve and warrants somewhat higher prices than elsewhere around. For most families, this will not be the place for the daily dinner, as a full dinner with starters, desserts and a good wine will cost you well in excess of 100 Euros. We have enjoyed both their fish- and meat-dishes. They were creative, based on the traditions of Portuguese food from sea (mar) and soil (terra). We enjoyed the burgers (larger adult version and kids’ version) and steaks, side dishes including the freshly made fries and spinach, as well as the various varieties of fish and seafood, including fresh sea fish, bacalhau and polvo (octopus). Vegetarian dishes are spread around the menu and are very tasty creations, not falling short in quality from the sea food and meat dishes. A highlight for kids and parents were the desserts, including an excellent composition of white and black chocolate mousse, a nice reference to the Swiss-borne owner of the restaurant, as well as various Portuguese dessert-specialties. The selection of wines from all around Portugal is very good, but also the white or red housewine is a very good choice. And of course they serve Portuguese beer from the tap. Last, not least, O Marinheiro has a very well equipped bar, which serves excellent cocktails and longdrinks, including a nice selection of international gins and alcohol-free creations. In summary, if you are prepared for the higher prices, reflecting a much better quality than elsewhere, you will have a great time here and indulge in excellent food and drinks.

Lovely evening on our last night in Portugal. The service was fantastic. Very accommodating of our little baby joining us. The atmosphere is perfect, we sat out on the outside area which is lovely at sunset. We had some small welcome appetizers bought to the table which was a nice surprise. The food i'd say is just ok. We had the fish of the day which was quite bland tasting could have done with a jus or dressing and something to go with the polenta. The prawn curry was nice but also lacking a bit of flavour. Overall a wonderful evening but I'd say the food could so with a bit more interesting flavours. I'd probably return down to atmosphere and also didn't find many places in Portugal to have very flavoursome food.

Nice, upscale restaurant. Excellent and beautifully presented food and cocktails. Friendly, helpful service. Prices are a bit higher than in many other Portuguese restaurants but nevertheless worth it. Open late (we arrived ar 22.30 on a Friday and the kitchen was still open).

The best meal we had in Algarve! Their tuna tataki is unbelievably good! The goat cheese roll also left us begging for more! On top of that, service is extremely attentive. Don’t be fooled by the uninspiring look from the outside, o Marinheiro will defiantly surprise you!

World class international cuisine, beautiful space, professional staff, great host and owner Joaquim Coelho... undoubtedly a must go in the Albufeira area...

Posh local restaurant with a nice atmosphere and a great menu even for vegetarians. The cocktails were amazing. The service was outstanding and very attentive. One of the best fish I've eaten in a long time. On top of that, the prices are very affordable given the quality of the food.

Amazing food, casual ambiance and great service! Wow wow wow, the dishes were bold, flavourful and cooked to perfection! Will definitely come back :) thank you O Marinheiro for a wonderful meal. The best in the Algarve that we’ve had so far!
