★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent place for a couple of days if you're a peace lover. Very nice decoration, very spacy including the rooms, a harmonious mix of middle age and modern styles. Very professional staff. Breakfast may fulfill your stomach requirements after a peaceful night sleep with a fair variety of a continental breakfast... Pool, SPA and very beatiful spaces outside for relax and recharge batteries...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What to say...
I loved it, could stay here for weeks
It was a surprise for me, so from the minute I turned the car into the hotel grounds I was blown away, what a view, what a building.what history. What an entrance.....
Staff were amazing, food was amazing wine(local) was AMAZING.
The building itself is out of this world, the restoration job was perfect and old meets new seamlessly,
Pool, spa, outdoor bar and chill garden all excellent, room with a view of local raw landscape went on for miles and miles,
One of the best hotels I'll ever stay in,, fact

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The mattress was awful even for a 3 star hotel. Very hard and used. The pillows also very used with no comfort. I would not return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Flor da Rosa's historical monastery is one of the best examples of heritage preservation and adaptation to a new function that I know of. The ambience is truly amazing — we're immersed in a magical place that was very important for the country —, and comfort is quite satisfactory. The staff is also very polite. However, the best selling points of our stay were the silence, which is, well... monastical, and, above all, the food, which has improved quite a lot since last time we were there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a very interesting place to stay. The castle and the monastery are amazing and it is wonderful to be able to explore the space with so little restriction. The bar is stunning with the vaulted ceiling. We stayed in a room in the new part which was just ok, it looks like it was designed in the 80s (as it was) and could use some updates to match the price. The hotel was nearly deserted when we stayed which made for an enjoyable experience to walk around and explore. There is a pool table, and two relax areas that are nicely decorated and provide the feel of the castle. The spa space is nice and the pool is lovely. The breakfast was very good as well. Overall, would give 4.5 stars. With a few updates it would be a 5 star location.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall it's a really beautiful place, in a historic monastery. A nice garden with two pools. One for adults and another for the kids. You will probably find a lot of families with their screaming kids enjoying the pool. As for the amenities, the mattress was super firm, you could feel the springs piercing through your body. The room and the bathroom are both big and spacious.
As for the food options we didn't have dinner in the hotel, but we did have lunch. Typical stuff, salads and toasts quite delicious but a bit pricey. We had some mojitos but they were really terrible!
TL; DR Nice place to enjoy an off grid holiday, have food and drinks somewhere else.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Pousada 'Mosteiro do Crato' (Crato's Monastery Inn), located in the village of Flor da Rosa, Crato, 22 km from the city of Portalegre in the middle of Alto Alentejo, is inside the 'Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Flor da Rosa' (Saint Mary of Flor da Rosa's Monastery), one of the most emblematic works of the region and one of the most original Gothic buildings in Portugal. It's comprised of three distinct buildings: the Gothic-style church-fort, the Gothic castellated palace with alterations from the 1500's and the rest of the monastery grounds, in Moorish and Renaissance styles.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My husband and I are staying here from Florida. I would highly recommend this location and the monastery/hotel. The staff are attentive they speak English well. The best part of staying here is the food. The chef is attentive to the presenting his food proudly. The taste exceeds my expectations. I am vegan and they have delicious options. I tired the gazpacho soup today made with beet juice. I don’t have words to describe how delicious it was. One of my favorite places so far in Portugal.
