The older parts are impressively finished and give the visitor a view into what this building has seen over the centuries. Open limited hours. An easy walk form most of Evora. In a nice park that has clearly been enjoyed by many people for a long time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Once you've actually found the place (we didn't see a single sign anywhere!) this is a free museum detailing the history of the city. It is actually one of the best museums I have visited and has an excellent walk through of the stages of conquest and evolution of the city. The "Time window" with old photos superimposed on current images was superb. The display on the top floor has photos from the turn of the 20th century but the descriptions didn't include English. Fascinating visit though, spent about over an hour there.
