Fair enough that I was late by 5mins and they charged me an extra day, but then they overcharged me completely. Forget about calling them as noone wants to answer an English call.

Thrifty and Hertz seem to be the same thing here. They blocked 1.500 € from my credit card for 3 days AFTER I returned the car (that I rented for only 2 days). Thus, for 5 days I was unable to used my credit card and my vacation got limited to whatever I had in mu pocket. That was wrongful and unnecessary.

Be Careful! You rent a car for a week, for a low price. When you arrive, they want to book € 3100,- as a deposit from your credit card. If you cannot do it. They sell you an insurance package for double the amount of the rental price. It is Betraying.

Worst experience ever. Lots of hidden fees that they don't tell you upfront and you have to pay extra for them. This is actually the Hertz company. There is no Thrifty company at the airport, but they are not telling you this anywhere when booking the car, you have to find out for yourself by googling it. Aside from the rental price that you pay they also charge you extra hidden fees for the "tyres fee" and the "road assistance fee" and the "highway toll fee". So you endup paying a lot more than the advertised price. They also wanted me to pay almost 2000euros(not even kidding) for the deposit of a 2 day rental. I told them I want to rent the car not buy it :) The amount is absurd. If you don't want to have the money blocked for 10 days(normal time frame for most banks) then you have to pay 40euro a day extra for some kind of insurance. Again, absurd amount of money. After I agreed to paid the insurance they also blocked the money for the deposit by mistake. The inconvenience was colossal and I never heard an apology from them. When I returned the car I told them I want my insurance money back since they took the deposit anyway, but they refused. As I said, worse experience ever.

I booked a Thrifty car on the broker website Holiday Autos and then found out this was actually a Hertz car from the Hertz office at the airport. I had to wait one hour-and-a-half to get served at the pick up. The car had no boot luggage cover so it was unsafe to leave anything in the car. I wanted to add a zero excess full insurance policy and they don't offer any insurance policy with an excess under 75 euros. Very bad experience of car hire. I don't recommend.

Rented a car for two weeks at Faro. We received a brand new car, which at first seemed very nice. However when returning the car, suddenly they discoverd a (very small) scratch below the car. They charged 223 euros + VAT for it, and probably they will never fix this tiny thing.Obviously we didn't want to pay since when receiving the car, no checks or pictures where taken from below the car. They told us it was brand new so it could only be due to us. They compared pictures from the front with the one below the car which didnΒ΄t make sense at all. Due to time pressure we needed to sign the papers or we missed our flight. When signing they filled theirselves the customer satisfaction survey at 'Medium'. That's the way Thriffty does its businnes because obviously if we could give a score for their customer service it would have been worse than horrible!

Would give 0 stars if possible! We rented a car in Faro (PT) for two weeks via Sunny Cars, received a brand new Ford Fiesta. I checked the car for scratches and nothing was wrong (I thought). When we returned the car, the guy who checks the cars got on his knees and discovered a small scratch at the bottom of the bumper (not visible for the eye). They charged us more than €300 for it! When comparing before and after pictures, he showed us a picture from the front of the car and one of the bumper (totally not comparable). We were convinced we did not make the scratch, however they told us the car was brand new so it was our fault. Due to time pressure (we needed to catch our flight) we had to sign the papers. I'm sure they will charge more people for the same scratch, because you don't notice it when checking the car unless you get on your back under the car. Will definitely NOT recommend renting a car here!!!

They rent a car with a very competitive value but after they try sold out the insurance with a high price more than double price. This is their business. My car was not so clean even with Covid label mentioned that car was cleaned.
